【Beginning】
As the three sisters grew older, Doris gradually became aware of the volatility and eccentricity of their mother’s behavior. She would sometimes look at Woodbury’s face and talk to herself, while other times, she would hide in her room and either weep or shout; she often had mood swings.
Doris was extremely worried as she could tell her mother’s peculiar behavior was related to Woodbury. To avoid Woodbury from blaming herself and feeling sad, Doris could only discuss with Alice what to do...
- Doris: If we don’t know what she’s vexed about, we can’t do anything to help...
- Alice: I think I’ve seen her writing her troubles into her diary. If we read it, we’ll likely learn what’s bothering her.
- Doris: Hm...though we shouldn’t do this, it’ s the only way.
Therefore, they came up with a plan — Doris would distract Ozma and Woodbury while Alice sneak into their mother’s room. Everything went smoothly as planned. While Doris leisurely enjoyed tea in the garden with Woodbury and her mother, a sudden pain in her abdomen forced her to go to the restroom.
When she returned, her mother and Woodbury were nowhere to be seen. Just as she wanted to search for them, someone screamed from her mother’s room on the second floor. The Swallow Manservant then appeared and took Doris away, saying that it was to prevent her from getting in danger.
- Doris: Mom, Alice, and Woodbury are all in the house!
Doris shook off the Swallow Manservant and ran toward the manor when a tornado swept across it, making a mess as well as sweeping everything away. Doris finally saw Alice, who was expressionlessly staring at their blood-stained mother.
Alice exuded unknown demonic power along with an overwhelming desire to kill, compelling Doris to tremble in fear. The Swallow Manservant then returned and took the benumbed Doris away. Since then, the two of them began living a life of avoiding Alice’s hench-beings.
【Before Battles】
In a forest, Doris and the Swallow Manservant were running from pawns led by the residents of Wonderland.
【Enemy Dialog】
- March Hare the Insane: D...darn! They were just in front of us! How come they’re gone?!
【After Battles】
- Doris: They are leaving. Let’s seize this chance and go!
- Swallow Manservant: You are right. Miss Doris, hold on to me.
【End】
After ensuring all the residents of Wonderland were gone, Doris and the Swallow Manservant continued their journey. However, not long after they took off, the Swallow Manservant’s wing was shot and they fell onto the ground! Doris scraped her left arm and leg, but she was more worried about the wounded Swallow Manservant. She uneasily walked toward it and wanted to help it up, but because she was also injured, the two of them fell again.
- Swallow Manservant: Miss Doris, go first!
- Doris: Don’t be silly! You’re my family! How could I leave you here!
- ???: How strange...a talking swallow?
Doris and the Swallow Manservant nervously looked toward the direction of the voice and saw a blonde adolescent appear from the trees. The Swallow Manservant was worried of Doris’ safety, so it immediately channeled dark elemental power. Upon seeing this, the adolescent stopped approaching and extended his kind greetings.
- Edward: Relax. I mean you no harm. My name is Edward and I am one of the princes in this country.
- Edward: This is actually our country’s hunting grounds, so we inadvertently shot you.
- Edward: Please first hide. I will come back and help you when everyone else has left.
With Edward’s help, Doris and the Swallow Manservant finally safely left the hunting grounds. After learning about Doris’ dangerous situation, Edward even built a wooden house for them as a temporary abode.
