Story

Ben ran into Ron in a cafe. Seeing Ron heaving a sigh from time to time, Ben couldn’t help but ask him.

Ben: Working on a big case?

Ron: It’s not something big, just something annoying… There is a bunch of kids street racing on the west side of the town. We wanted to catch them but they outran us every time. The road on that mountain is just too difficult…

Ron: Oh right! Nocturne once told me that you’re an excellent driver. Can you help me with this? I can get you coffee for a month if you can get me those kids!

Ben: There is no need for the coffee. I’ll help you anyway, but let me be clear, I’m just a regular driver.

Ron: Don’t be modest. Since you have impressed Nocturne, you must be a competent driver. I’m counting on you!

Ben nodded calmly. However, he found his car broken down when he was about to set off. After asking around in the Heptara Unies, only a female colleague was willing to lend him her car—a pink mini beetle.

Unruffled, Ben then went to the mountain that Ron had told him under the moonlight.

The mountain was known as “Mount Akisanma” for the course on it had a sharp corner that resembled the shape of a Sanma (Japanese saury). Besides, the mountain had several complicated curves, which made it a sanctuary for all car racing enthusiasts and street racers.

For the prestige of Mount Akisanma, some hooligans came here on purpose even though they did not live nearby. That was why the Red Panther Club, a gang of street racers based on the mountain, often received challenges from the racers outside, just like this very moment.

Hooligan A: We are the Hurricane from the south. I dare you, the Red Panther, for a race!

Red Panther Hooligan: So you’re here to pick a fight, aren’t you!

Hooligan A: Ha, let’s have a race! If you lose, then Mount Akisanma shall be ours!

Red Panther Hooligan: You can’t scare me! If you lose, you shall roll your way down Mount Akisanma!

Story

With the sound of engines echoing across the sky, car lights ripped through the dark heaven like shooting stars. The Red Panther thought it would be a neck-to-neck race, however, they couldn’t catch up with the Hurricane no matter how—especially the white race car running in the lead.

Red Panther Hooligan: That man is definitely a pro… Did the Hurricane ask that legendary racer for help?

In the past, there was once a mysterious demon who drove through Mount Akisanma in just five minutes. As his story spread to the entire street racing world, that demon was then given a name as the legendary racer of Mount Akisanma.

Red Panther Hooligan: If that guy is the legend… We’re so messed up…

Just then, a pink car from the back outran the one of the Red Panther hooligan.

Red Panther Hooligan: What… How did it outrun me?! It would be still fine if that was a sports car but… that’s a freaking old beetle!

The next moment, that pink beetle implemented a drift before him.

Ben pressed the clutch pedal, looking at the mountain track before him composedly. What awaited him was another bend.

Yet, Ben didn’t slow down a bit; instead, he grabbed the steering wheel with one hand and stepped on the accelerator hard——

That beetle drifted horizontally, producing a harsh noise as the rapidly spinning tires rubbed against the ground. As if it was sliding on a water surface, the car went around the corner swiftly and caught up with the leading white sports car like a flying arrow at the same time, leaving the hooligans behind him all gobsmacked.

As Ben arrived at the finishing line, he pushed open the door and got out of his car only to find all the hooligans who came one after another stood in front of him, looking dumbfounded.

Just when Ben was pondering about how he could bring all the hooligans to the police station, they all knelt on the ground in a sudden.

Red Panther Hooligan: So… Are…are you the legendary racer of Mount Akisanma?

Hurricane Hooligan: He finished the whole track in just three minutes! You’re telling me that he is not the legendary racer?!

Hurricane Hooligan: We, the Hurricane would like to follow you! We only want some racing technique tips from you!

Red Panther Hooligan: Hey, we came here first! Even if you want to be the legend’s student, it should be our turn first!

Ben: All of you follow me.

Ben got in the car and drove at a lightning speed. The hooligans tried their best to keep up with him, without even noticing that they came to the police station.

So a strange scene happened in the police station that day—the hooligans that had been giving Ron a headache for a long time came to the police station one after one with their own cars. Seeing the hooligans get caught by the police with a look of betrayal on their faces, Ben waved them goodbye.
