Modi and Magni went through a lot of suffering in order to finally pass the glacier trial. With Heimdallr as a witness, they inherited Thor’s hammer “Mjölnir” and armor. The king took the priest’s proposal and make the pilgrimage a competition for the throne succession—whomever receives Thor’s Relics shall ascend to the throne. Unexpectedly, the relics were brought back by both Modi and Magni.
Upon arriving at their kingdom, the brothers immediately explained the whole story, but the king replied…
Magni: Father, the guardian of Asgard has approved both Modi and I…
King: Two kings, one kingdom? No way! I don’t care if he’s the guardian or whatever.
King: I order both of you: battle with the Relics now and the winner shall be the next king!
Modi: Father! I'm willing to let Magni succeed the throne, so…
Priest: Didn’t you hear the king’s order? Battle now!
Modi: ”Father looks strange and he has never acted this way before...What happened?”
Magni: ”There’s something off about the priest. I’ll try testing him first...”
Magni: Father, as a matter of fact, neither Modi nor I found Asgard, so these Relics are all…
Priest: Your Majesty, Modi and Magni have deceived you. I think you should take the Relics and kill them.
King: Right! Guards! Kill them!
Magni: Modi, something’s wrong with our father! Get the Relics!
With the king’s order, soldiers dashed towards Modi and Magni and encircled them. The brothers immediately picked up the Relics. The hammer and the shield were shining. Upon seeing the shining Relics, the priest lifted his stick, hit the brothers and tried to grab the Relics…
Priest: How dare you fight back! Give me the Relics!
Magni: What have you done to our father?
Magni noticed there was something different in expression, tone, and reaction about the king, knowing for a fact that the king loved the brothers and even shed tears when they left for their pilgrimage competition...Something must had happened or the king would not have changed overnight! At that moment, the king stood still and stiff, his face resembling a dead fish.
Priest: Oh, the magic is gone. I meant to sustain his life a bit longer…
Priest: No, I poisoned him to death a long time ago. How could he revive? Haha!
Fulminating Sovereigns - Modi & Magni: Let’s take revenge for our father!
The borthers gahtered all their strength. Magni took the shield and advanced, covering Modi, while Modi raised the hammer and smashed off the priest's head. The priest immediately grabbed onto the brothers’ hands that held the relics, however, the relics suddenly energized with lightening. The Priest, who touched the Relics, was immediately struck by lightning and died. After he died, his body became a puff of black smoke, covering the Relics…
Modi and Magni waved the black smoke away. After the smoke dispersed, the two Relics were in ruins…
After the priest died, the soldiers without a leader, became a chaotic mess. Modi and Magni hurried to their father's side, only to find their father’s stiff body. Modi cried while Magni grieved. They only left their kingdom for a few months. They never could have imagined that their father would pass away not long after they reunited.
Magni: The priest must have been a spy sent by the Demons. He killed our father and ruined our Relics…
Magni: We need to first bury father, we’ll deal with the Relics later.
After they buried the king, Modi and Magni resumed their power and they came to the conclusion that Magni, who's the successor, would rule the interior, while Modi, the one with stronger will power, was going to fight the enemies. Even though the brothers worked well together and both ruled the kingdom, the relics remained lifeless. The brothers could only hide the relics in their secret room so no one could steal it.
For the first time in history, two kings ruled one kingdom. As time went by, the brothers began to disagree with each other. Magni, who only stayed within the kingdom, could only receive news of Modi through soldiers and officers…
Officer: Master Magni, our borders are secure and there’s no need to worry about our resources.
Magni: I’m still worried. Demons are accelerating their invasion. We might not have enough storage for future battles…
Officer: I believe master Modi will soon defeat the Demons.
Officer: In addition, the burden on the citizens' shoulders are getting heavier day by day.
King: If we provide more support to the front line, I’m afraid that our citizens will…
Magni was going to provide Modi additional support, but the officer provided enough evidence to change his mind. Therefore, Magni decided to withdraw his plan of providing more support.
After a few months, there was a sudden turmoil in the city—Modi and his soldiers suddenly came back to the kingdom. Modi’s soldiers were either dead or wounded, while Modi was terribly wounded terribly with bandages wrapped around his body. Modi dashed into the hall and disturbed Magni’s discussion with the officers…
Modi: Magni! I sent a messenger to report on our insufficient resources. Why didn’t you do anything about it?
Magni: Your wounds...I've always received reports, but they all spoke of your victories. Were they not true?
Modi: We almost won the battle, but we were attacked by Demons and all our resources were consumed. I needed help!
Modi: All my efforts are wasted because of your mistake!...
Magni: Mistakes? Do you understand the burden our citizens carry for your mistake?
Magni: War is not the only way for the country to prosper! You understand nothing of our people!
Modi: Do you understand the troubles our soldiers face? I don’t like wars either!
Modi: We fought because we wanted to eliminate danger and protect our country!
The brothers kept arguing. In the end, Modi left, departing with his soldiers to guard the border and temporarily push back the war, while Magni totally ignored all external affairs and cared only for the people’s livelihood…
Officer: Master Magni, I will report everything based on facts.
Officer: I care about this country’s people and everything I do is for our country.
Magni: I also intend to cease the war. Our people are all dissatisfied about the war and our country might fall apart if we keep fighting.
Since the brothers disagreed with each other, Modi only defended the border. Magni continued to work on internal affairs. As time passed, Magni started to reflect on the reasons behind the recent war's failure…
Magni: ”Modi is an outstanding general, but he’s not fighting for his own honor, but the country’s.”
Magni: ”He once said the king should be all loving…”
Magni: ”He even vowed that if he ever betrayed his people, his soul would be swallowed by Nidhogg.”
Magni: ”There must be something wrong, is it…”
Officer: My Master, I have a request.
Officer: Since we brought Thor’s Relics to our country, Demons have kept invading. I believe that the Relics are what the Demons are coming for.
Officer: I believe that the only way to stop this war is by destroying the Relics.
Magni: The Relics are only pieces of irons now. There’s no need to destroy them.
Officer: Please give it a second thought my master! If the relics continue to exist, the Demons will keep invading us!
Magni didn’t respond. He thought of what the guardian said: “Inheriting Thor’s Relics is the only way to sustain Aesir. He never doubted the words of Gods, because Gods are the center of the North. The officer in front of him actually reminded him of someone...In the end, he said he would discuss about the Relics later.
Magni: ”Instead of destroying the Relics, we thought about reviving them...”
At night, Magni went to the secrect room alone and checked on the hammer and shield. They were still rusty like pieces of irons. As he thought about how to revive it, footsteps approached him from behind. He turned around, only to see the officer stalking him and was followed by a few soldiers!
Officer: Master Magni, please destroy the Relics now!
Magni: Are you threatening me? I don’t think the Relics caused the war. I think we should…
Before Magni could finish his sentence, the officer ordered the soldiers to grab the Relics. At that moment, Magni realized the officer’s resemblance to the priest! Magni immediately grabbed the shield and hammer and fought the soldiers, but the Relics were too ragged to support the fight. Before Magni was defeated by the traitors, the officer suddenly screamed and a sword's blade was on his neck.
The person holding the sword was Modi's man. Modi had long noticed that there was something wrong with the officer, so before he departed he appointed one of his soldiers to investigate the officer.
Magni: You are also a Demon! No wonder there was misinformation.
After an investigation, Magni found out that the officer had a close relationship with the priest. The officer provided misinformation to Magni and tried to persuade him to destroy the Relics. He was executed after his evil plot was unveiled. Magni realized that everything was simply a misunderstanding and regretted arguing with Modi. Therefore, Magni took the Relics with him and set off to the border to apologize to Modi.
The next day, when he arrived at the boder, Modi was training his soldiers. Modi knew something had happened, when Modi handed him Thor's hammer…
Magni: The guardian of Asgard once said: “Although we can’t use Thor’s Relics alone, we can be each other’s arm.”
Magni: Thank you for always being my arm. The previous war was all my fault.
Modi: I shouldn’t have left you.
Modi picked up the hammer and swung it with ease as to let Magni know he had recovered. The brothers smiled at each other.
Right at that moment, their spy reported that Demon soldiers were approaching! Turns out once the Demons realized Magni had left the kingdom, they decided to invade the kingdom in an attempt to kill the brothers. Magni immediately took the shield and prepared for the war.
Magni: Let me be your arm, like we did in the glacier war, but you won’t get hurt this time.
Modi: I won’t let them hurt me and I will also shield you from the Demons.
As Magni held Modi's hands, the two brothers felt each other's support. Instantly, the rust on hammer and shield fell off. Rays of Light glittered through the cracks of the rust…
Modi and Magni rearranged their soldiers and prepared to fight at any moment. One of the brothers took the shield while another took the hammer, they led the army and charged towards the Demons. Magni shielded the arrows and swords while Modi swung his hammer, erasing the Demons advancing forward. The hammer and shield were both glittering and the warfield was engulfed with divinity.
During the battle , a ray of blue light was shining amongst the thunder. With the blue light, a long hair girl was dashing towards the brothers with a giant sword in her hands!
Swegde: I...I’m out of control! Run!
Suddenly, Modi and Magni were surrounded by enemies from both sides. They were startled by Swegde shouting “Run!” They had no choice but face the attack of the Sword of Victory...
