Ever since Yue Qi woke, Yue Jin-Zhao was by her side. They had both lost their memories. In order to learn about their own past, they decided to explore Ancient China together, with only each other as companions. Since Yue Jin-Zhao had always pampered Yue Qi, she gradually became dependent on him. Later, they met Ming Hsiu and from then on, the three journeyed together.
When they were investigating the Qi Hun Cult, a mysterious power dragged them into a passageway of time and space, bringing them to an unknown realm... When Yue Qi opened her eyes, she found herself inside a prison cell. Yue Jin-Zhao and Ming Hsiu were nowhere to be found! Since she could not remember a life without Yue Jin-Zhao, she was left in shock and panic. She began yelling:
Yue Qi: What, what is this place?! Why am I in a cell?! Where is Jin-Zhao?! And Miss Ming?!
Yue Qi: Somebody come! Get me out of here!
???: Yue Qi? Is that you?
Yue Qi: This voice... Miss Ming? Is that really you?! Why are we locked up?!
Hearing Ming Hsiu’s voice, Yue Qi’s panic lessened. Perhaps Yue Jin-Zhao was somewhere in the prison as well. In order to find Jin-Zhao, the first thing they had to do was to escape from the cells...
Yue Qi: ‘Wait for me, Jin-Zhao...! I am going to save you soon!’
Prison Guard: You guys are so noisy! I’m gonna teach you a lesson!
Yue Qi casted her Psychic Sword, pointed it at the guard’s neck, and ordered:
Yue Qi: Open the door! Or pay the consequences!
After Yue Qi and Ming Hsiu successfully escaped, they searched through the whole prison in worry about Yue Jin-Zhao... Yet, although they freed myriad captive girls as they wandered the prison, they still could not see Yue Jin-Zhao... Filled with anxiety and despair, Yue Qi grew more panicked; she had never been separated from Yue Jin-Zhao. She leaned on a wall helplessly, and mumbled:
Yue Qi: Jin-Zhao... Where are you...?
Ming Hsiu: Maybe he has already escaped. Let’s get out of here first.
However, Ming Hsiu’s words could not reach Yue Qi. The dread of never seeing Yue Jin-Zhao again was overwhelming her...
Thinking that Yue Jin-Zhao might also be confined, Yue Qi had searched the whole prison, but to no avail. She was filled with despair and anxiety, having never been separated from Yue Jin-Zhao before. The fear of never seeing him again had drained her of her conscious thought. Meanwhile, dense footsteps reverberated from outside the prison, but Yue Qi was completely unaware. Ming Hsiu was forced to grab her, and drag her along.
Her mind left aimless, Yue Qi allowed Ming Hsiu to guide her in their escape. They ran to the lobby of the manor. Just as Ming Hsiu thought they were finally free, a group of guards and maids suddenly appeared from two sides and blocked their way! Thinking that perhaps these were the people responsible for Yue Jin-Zhao’s imprisonment, rage began to boil in Yue Qi...
Maid: We cannot let you go. This is Mister’s order!
Yue Qi: I don’t care! Hand out Jin-Zhao, or else, face my fury!
Tycoon: Marvelous! You two beauties are skilled!
Just as Yue Qi and Ming Hsiu were attempting to breakthrough the ranks, a man’s cheering and clapping arose from the stairs of the manor. The guards and maids stopped and bowed to him as soon as he appeared. Yue Qi immediately knew that this man was their boss; he clapped while walking up to Yue Qi and Ming Hsiu. Yet, before he could finish speaking, the furious Yue Qi had grabbed his collar and roared:
Yue Qi: Are you their boss? Tell me where Jin-Zhao is!
Tycoon: I like tough women like you! I have decided! You shall be my wife!
Yue Qi: What? What’s wrong with you? I am not going to marry you! I don’t even know you!
Just as they turned to leave, the tycoon stopped them and showed them Ming Hsiu’s Spiritual Lamp and Yue Qi’s hair pin! He said:
Tycoon: If you marry me, I will give these back to you and have my men to search for ... what was his name again?
Yue Qi: Yue Jin-Zhao!
Tycoon: Yes, yes, yes. What do you think? You do want your stuff back, right?
Ming Hsiu: Yue Qi, just ignore him. We should leave immediately!
Yue Qi contemplated in silence. She did not understand what love was, and she had no idea why the tycoon would want to marry her even if he did not know her. Yet, she realized that by marrying the tycoon, she not only could get back the Spiritual Lamp and hair pin, there would also be people searching for Yue Jin-Zhao. Therefore, she decided to accept the tycoon’s proposal. And hence, she shook off Ming Hsiu’s hand and replied firmly:
Yue Qi: Alright! I will marry you!
Ming Hsiu tried to stop Yue Qi, but the tycoon thought this was out of jealousy, so he also forced Ming Hsiu to marry him; her worries left Ming Hsiu with no option but to agree to the marriage, so she could accompany Yue Qi.
Ming Hsiu: What should we do now?
Yue Qi: Don’t worry. When we get back the Spiritual Lamp and hair pin, and found Jin-Zhao, we will leave immediately.
Yue Qi had agreed to the tycoon’s marriage proposal, and planned to escape later. Ming Hsiu, on the other hand, had been urging her to leave; this was a marriage after all, and choices should not be decided so arbitrarily. Yet Yue Qi did not agree, because she knew of the Spiritual Lamp’s importance to Ming Hsiu, and her own desire to find Yue Jin-Zhao as soon as possible.
It did not take long before the day of the ceremony arrived. The tycoon's maids hastened Yue Qi and Ming Hsiu to wear their wedding dresses. Just as they were about to exchange vows with the tycoon, the gate was suddenly forcefully opened. A gang of bandits charged in, and in an instant, the guests were left in panic.
Ming Hsiu wanted to take the chance to escape with Yue Qi, but the tycoon grabbed their hands tightly. They could not escape. The bandits edged closer. With Ming Hsiu left without access to her Spiritual Lamp, Yue Qi was the only one who could protect them; and so she stepped in front of the tycoon and Ming Hsiu, casted her Psychic Sword, and prepared to fight...
Yue Qi: Hide behind me, Miss Ming! I will protect you!
Ming Hsiu: ... Okay, be careful.
As the bandits began to charge towards her, a familiar figure she had longed for — one with an eye mask — appeared with a female guard by his side.
Surprised, Yue Qi immediately withdrew her Psychic Sword and rushed to him, without realizing his fury...
Yue Qi: Jin-Zhao! What are you doing here?
Yue Jin-Zhao: That is exactly what I wanted to ask you! Did he deceive you into becoming his fiancee? And you even put Miss Ming into this...
Ming Hsiu: Don’t we have something else we need to deal with first?
With the joint effort of Yue Jin-Zhao, Yue Qi and the female guard, the bandits were quickly fought off. All this time, concerns of life without Yue Jin-Zhao had been plaguing Yue Qi. And now that he was here in front of her, Yue Qi’s mind was entirely occupied by joy. Even though Yue Jin-Zhao was sternly admonishing her, she did not feel unpleasant. She could only feel happiness in her heart.
Yue Qi: ‘Nothing matters as long as I can be with Jin-Zhao forever.’
Yue Qi: I agreed to marry him just because I want to retrieve Miss Ming’s Spiritual Lamp, and to acquire aid for my search of you.
Yue Qi: I am going to escape with Miss Ming after I have got what I want. I had it all planned out!
Yue Jin-Zhao: What were you thinking! What if you failed to escape? Do you know exactly what you were doing?
Yue Jin-Zhao: Sigh, just leave it. Now that we have finally reunited, let’s go now!
Ming Hsiu: But the tycoon is not going to let us go that easily. Our Spiritual Lamp and hair pin are still with him.
Yue Jin-Zhao sighed and smiled helplessly. He walked to the tycoon, pointed his blade at him, and ordered:
Yue Jin-Zhao: I am taking them with me. Now give me the Spiritual Lamp and the hair pin!
Tycoon: How, how dare you seize my betrothed ladies! Gua...guards, get him!
Tycoon: You despicable rat! We love each other. Leave us alone!
Yue Qi: I’ve never said I love you!
The guards and maids came in countless numbers, but Yue Jin-Zhao and Yue Qi actually managed to defeat them all. Eventually, the furious tycoon could not stand it anymore; he grabbed a weapon from a collapsed guard, and charged at Yue Jin-Zhao!
Yue Qi: Watch out! Jin-Zhao!
At that moment, the female guard dashed out from their side and blocked the attack for Yue Jin-Zhao. The tycoon collapsed onto the floor; the female guard helped him up, and admonished him, telling him that love should not be forced. If true love visits, one’s heart leaps. Upon hearing her words, Yue Qi could not help staring at Yue Jin-Zhao. What was the feeling she had for him? Love was just too complicated.
Even though the female guard admonished him, the tycoon did not get mad; instead, he fell for her. Yue Qi hence felt even more confused about love. How could someone start and stop loving another so easily...?
Before he left, the tycoon had returned the Spiritual Lamp and hair pin to Ming Hsiu and Yue Qi. He even gave them a Runestone to assuage their sorrow. The Runestone radiated with intense light upon the three’s contact. When the light dissipated, they had gone through time and space, and had returned to the familiar Ancient China. In their later journey, Yue Qi’s feelings towards Yue Jin-Zhao became more distinct...
