Hunger was the first feeling that Byakhee had ever felt. It grabbed a human next to it with its incomplete body structures, and bit off the head of that person with its newly-formed teeth. The blood and flesh of creatures helped the formation of Byakhee’s body, and their screams were an important food source for it.^ Extraterrestrials descended into the realm of men with Byakhee and looted the elements as they pleased...
Gigantic Mutant Toad: Elements, souls... All you see, are food!
Hunger satisfied, Byakhee structured its body into that of a dragon, and went into the earth under the ruins of Cassilda. The extraterrestrials followed it into the forest and settled there.^ Since then, they lived in seclusion inside the forest and together, they absorbed the power of elements. The mighty Byakhee could gulp down noises to absorb the power of elements through the air. Apart from the extraterrestrials and the incarnations of the dragons, only a few powerful ones could stay away from it...
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: I know you’re here! Dragon of Wind!
Byakhee could hear the Dragon Maiden not because she was stomping the floor and kicking the obelisks at the ruins hard, but it was attributable to she and her Dracospirits’ direct connection to Byakhee. Byakhee knew that the Dragon Maiden was its priestess and not its food, but it did not intend to respond to her. It would only do what it needed to, such as summoning its incarnations to drive away disgusting intruders from the chaos, and gulping down elements which nourished its body.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: That jerk has almost swallowed everything in the forest.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: There’s nothing left for the Dracospirits. They’re starving!
Byahkee was trying to understand her words. In the past, the extraterrestrials went across the border, came to this world, and lived in the forest together with it. The extraterrestrials would offer him elements as a tribute regularly. Sometimes, Byakhee will send small Ethereal Dragons to help them fend off the intruders. If the extraterrestrials had taken more power, Byakhee might also collect more from them—
Tsathoggua the Toad-like Gargoyle: Respected, God of wind, how can I, help you?
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: How dare you ask! Give back what you’ve eaten!
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: That’s far from enough—Hey! Stop right there!
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: Darn! What a disgusting jerk!
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: I’ll definitely strip you of your power next time!
Byakhee’s roars were as involuntary as breathing. It was like the body heat of a person, which constantly radiated into the air - uncontrollable and unstoppable at the same time. After the Dragon Maiden drove away the big toad and released power of elements from within, Byakhee absorbed its power. It could feel itself fill with powerl. Stirring, it translated its wills into its roars, which travelled through thousands of miles.
If the Dragon Maiden had not stopped it in time, Byakhee could have already devastated Cassilda. To the immortal Byakhee, hunger was not a feeling which came from its stomach and intestines, but from the unstoppable desire within its heart.
The city in the west could sense the vibrations of the earth. The citizens feared the woodland of Cassilda, which was once the hunting ground of Artemis. When the Goddess heard the roar of Byakhee, she decided to personally inspect the forest and travelled to Cassilda again. When she was there, she was surprised to discover there was no longer any sign of life. The only things left there were the gigantic thousand-year-old tree which was not to the toad’s liking, and the sky-high obelisks.
Artemis, Goddess of the Moon: A good hunter will never hunt the prey to extinction.
Artemis, Goddess of the Moon: But you, however, only know to eat.
Artemis, Goddess of the Moon: Go back to your home, you ethereal vermin.
Artemis, Goddess of the Moon: The realm of men doesn’t welcome you.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: Don’t blame Byakhee for what the toad has done!
Arriving in time, the Dragon Maiden immediately intervened in the fight between Artemis and the dragon. Recognizing the staff of ancient wood was an amulet of circe, the injured Artemis had no choice to stay on guard, taking back the arrow on the string and protecting herself with the bow.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: Byakhee needs power.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: It has to consume the chaos brought by Gods and Demons.
The giant toad next to them felt that he was betrayed by the Dragon Maiden. Aggrieved, he winked at Byakhee, but Byakhee ignored him. The disappointed toad turned back and ran into the depths of the forest, while Artemis was chasing behind him.
After escaping from the wizards, the Dragon Maiden had been looking for the roar that she was familiar with. She ended up at the woodlands of Cassilda, where she found the Ethereal Dragon. The maiden forced the big toad to return the power of elements that it had swallowed, and helped Byakhee drive away Artemis. However, Byakhee still stayed deep under the ground and ignore the Dragon Maiden’s resquests. So, the maiden fluttered about Cassilda, nagging the dragon.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: Hey, it’s time to eat.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: If you don’t eat, then how can the Dracospirits take in what they need.
As Byakhee kept ignoring her, she dug away the dust to make capricious requests and hurried it to recover its power. The maiden did not the dragon at all, and would often give it advice. Annoyed, Byakhee would always listen to her, but it would never do everything she had instructed, enraging the Dragon Maiden.
The roar had brought Byakhee not only friends, but also enemies. Coming after Artemis was a mage. That night, under the starry sky, Byakhee was woken up by a little sting at his back. As the earth trembled, a few wizards were immediately buried alive on its back. The mage was standing on his guard. Hearing the sound of the earthquake, the Dragon Maiden, who were looking for food for the Dracospirits outside, had also returned, witnessing the battle between Byakhee and the mage.
The Great Mage: Byakhee, how long has it been since the last time we met?
The Great Mage: Although time really flies, you must recognize your master.
Barbara the Dragon Maiden: Byakhee is not your plaything!
The Great Mage: Who is this cute little girl? Oh, I see. She is your servant.
The Great Mage: Byakhee was summoned from my magic circle.
Bogle the Snow Enchanter: So I am its master, and you are the servant of my servant.
The Great Mage: Little girl, Byakhee was just the result of a mistake.
Byakhee had awaken before the stars were right after all. It fought together with the Dragon Maiden to drive away the mage. Later, it replenished its power using the stone tablet of the God of the Sky. No matter what the will of Byakhee was, its roar marked the end of every battles on the battlefield. No one was brave enough to overcome the noise - soldiers who were fighting a ferocious battle would stop cursing each other and put down their weapons, so no sound, not even a clang of blades would be emitted.
