After Lü Bu eliminated the Demon General with his trap and declared war on both Gods and Demons, he traveled to wherever Gods and Demons fought. On the battlefield, Lü Bu did whatever he wanted, savoring the pleasure of combating and killing. However, the battles covered his body with wounds. Although none of the injuries was lethal, they were already enough for the Queen of Hearts to worry.
Lü Bu the Warlord: Prepare my horse. I’m going to another battlefield.
Tyrant - The Queen of Hearts: You haven’t recovered from your injuries yet. Why don’t you first take some rest?
Lü Bu the Warlord: I can handle myself.
Despite his unhealed old wounds, Lü Bu once again came back with more cuts than before. As the Queen of Hearts insisted, Lü Bu finally agreed to take a short rest, but he fell into a deep sleep instead — he was obviously exhausted. The Queen of Hearts seized this chance to tend to Lü Bu’s wounds.
Looking at Lü Bu’s wounds, the queen remembered that when Lü Bu was on the battlefield, he would always prioritize fighting his enemies over his own safety. Hence, she decided to cast a spell on him...
As the queen channeled her demonic power, a pair of claws materialized from the flames behind her back. Decks of poker cards encircled the sleeping Lü Bu. Linked by fire-red lines of light, the cards formed a magic circle. When the Queen of Hearts murmured her spell, the magic circle shimmered, before a cloud of blue light separated from Lü Bu and floated onto the queen’s palm. That was a portion of Lü Bu’s desire and will to fight!
She extracted these thoughts from Lü Bu and disposed of them outside Wonderland, in hopes that he would not be over-intoxicated by all the battles. Still, the queen muttered with guilt.
Tyrant - The Queen of Hearts: I am just afraid that you will fight recklessly, and eventually...
When Lü Bu awoke, he felt relaxed, as if weight had been lifted from his body. On the battlefield, he fought his enemies with lighter movements, and the battle became smoother and smoother. However, he would no longer bear down on his defeated enemies. His desire to fight no longer overflew as it used to. Since then, Lü Bu did not suffer from any unnecessary injuries due to his bloodthirst.
The Queen of Hearts took away a part of Lü Bu’s desire and will to fight, in hopes that he would not be too obsessed with his battles again. However, she never imagined that things would not go in the way she had planned...
One day, after a battle, Lü Bu spotted a little child on the battlefield. He was amazed when he saw the child’s ability to hold his heavy halberd. Therefore, he invited the child to follow him, gave him the surname of Lü, and named him Lingshuang, which meant “enduring the coldness of snow and frost.”
Lingshuang initially walked behind Lü Bu, but not long after Lü Bu walked away from the battlefield, the child was nowhere to be seen. Not long afterward, Lü Bu was on the battlefield again —
Lü Bu the Warlord: ‘Hm... Why is Lingshuang here? Nevermind, this child is not weak. He’ s not gonna die. Let’s focus on the battle first!’
Although Lü Bu told himself not to care about Lingshuang, his eyes still fell upon Lingshuang sometimes.
Lingshuang was like a child-shaped pneuma running around Lü Bu. However, as Lü Bu’s desire to fight grew with the number of enemies he killed, Lingshuang’s body began to materialize — from an intangible cloud of pneuma to a corporeal creature that produced audible footsteps, and finally into a child that could be picked up into Lü Bu’s arm.
Observing Lingshuang’s transformation, Lü Bu could not help but wonder whether Lingshuang had any connections to himself and his battles.
He brought Lingshuang with him to every battle and discovered that Lingshuang became increasingly excited as if he fed on war. However, when the battle ended and Lü Bu calmed down, Lingshuang’s body would become intangible again. In order to figure out Lingshuang’s origin, Lü Bu went to another battlefield...
It was rare for Lü Bu to only focus on the battle in front of him while ignoring the overall situation. The Gods led a few troops of elites to directly confront Lü Bu. Facing a harmonious attack from the enemies, Lü Bu had to deal with the elites in front of him and be aware of attacks from behind at the same time.
The elites could not defeat Lü Bu, but they managed to halt him from escaping. It was the Gods’ plan to divert Lü Bu’s attention. When Lü Bu realized it, he was already surrounded by the God’s army. Even though Lü Bu was strong, he was just one man facing 30,000 God warriors...
Lü Bu the Warlord: Darn, you think I’ll surrender? Hell no!
Without thinking much, Lü Bu directly dashed into the enemies. If he could manage to create an opening, he would be able to make his escape!
However, the Gods would not let Lü Bu get away. No matter which direction he tried to escape, the Gods would immediately arrange their troops to block his way in response.
Lü Bu the Warlord: You troublesome bastards! Let’s see whether you can really stop me with this many people!
His name of “warlord” was not just for show. He swung his halberd swiftly and precisely. No one who stood within the halberd’s reach was able to leave without injuries — but only if Lü Bu still had the strength to do so. The Gods were a great force; they had the upper hand in attrition warfare. No matter how strong Lü Bu was, there would be a moment when his strength exhausted. All the Gods had to do was wait until that moment, and Lü Bu’s head would be on a silver platter.
The huge amount of enemies gave Lü Bu a tough battle. At that moment, what he wanted more than anything was power strong enough to fight his way out. Just then, Lingshuang appeared right next to him!
Before Lü Bu could speak, he could already sense Lingshuang’s volition. This feeling felt familiar to Lü Bu as if it was originally a part of him. Yes! That was his desire and will to fight! Their thoughts merged together; Lingshuang became a cloud of pneuma and flowed into Lü Bu’s body. When Lü Bu came to realize it, he felt that he had gained enormous power. With a single swing of his halberd, he knocked away a number of God soldiers.
Lü Bu the Bedemoned General: Hahaha, bring it on!
Although Lü Bu couldn’t notice it, from the God's perspective they could clearly see that Lü Bu and Lingshuang fused into one and had become fiercer than ever. It was a massive loss for the Gods. In order to prevent the toll from increasing, they decided to retreat.
Lü Bu’s will should calm after seeing the God’s retreat, but it turned out differently; Lü Bu could not calm himself down. The desire and will to fight which had once been lifted from his body had now absorbed all kinds of thoughts on the battlefields and had grown before returning to Lü Bu.
The overwhelming obsession for battles urged him to continue fighting. At the time, Lü Bu was not able to manipulate the overly strong power. He could only let the desire control him...
After fighting the Gods, Lü Bu and Lingshuang became one. Lü Bu was unable to control himself for a while due to the overflowing power. He could only rely on the consciousness deep inside his heart to grasp onto the last bits of his sanity.^ ^ Feeling the power becoming stable with the confidence to control it, Lü Bu returned to Wonderland and let the Queen of Hearts see his new form.
Lü Bu the Bedemoned General: This way, I have the power to fight Alice. Hearty should be happy about this.
Lü Bu never realized that compared to breaking free from Alice, all the Queen of Hearts wanted was to peacefully spend the rest of her life with him.^ ^ When the queen welcomed Lü Bu, she almost fainted from seeing Lü Bu’s strange appearance. Lü Bu rushed forward to support the queen, but the rush freed his desire to fight from his consciousness. His body was again driven by the power to kill!
March Hare the Insane: Master Lü Bu! What happened to you? Why are you attacking us?
Tyrant - The Queen of Hearts: He has lost his sanity! Get out of here!
Tyrant - The Queen of Hearts: Lü Bu, I order you to wake up! Now!
Tyrant - The Queen of Hearts: Lü Bu! Wake up! Look! It’s me! Are you going to kill me too?
Just before the Halberd pierced through the queen’s chest, her voice finally managed to reach Lü Bu’s heart. He fainted as his consciousness came back. The frenzy just now wasted a lot of Lü Bu’s demonic power and he finally fell due to tiredness. Holding Lü Bu’s body in her arms, the Queen of Hearts was relieved. She saw a cloud of blue pneuma escape from Lü Bu, which appeared in the shape of a child before swiftly drifted away.
Tyrant - The Queen of Hearts: That pneuma... Could it be... ?
The queen recognized the blue pneuma’s origin. The desire and will to fight which she had once taken away from Lü Bu had reunited with him in the form of a child! She felt depressed and futile; all she had done for Lü Bu was in vain. Before she took away Lü Bu’s desire and will, she felt insecure around him. She had assumed what she had done would relieve herself from that feeling, but it turned out to accidentally raise Lü Bu’s truculence.
Gazing at Lü Bu’s sleeping face, the queen felt her heart ache , but she could only accept this —
Tyrant - The Queen of Hearts: No matter what you become, I will always be with you. Even if you don’t recognize me one day, I will not regret dying in your hands...
