The Xian in the realm of Humans created crystals to help the individuals from Ancient China in finding the Runestones. Lin Yue-Ru, Li Hsiao-Yao, Zhao Ling-Er and Li Yi-Ru set out to Afire Volcano together. Wanting to stay with her mother, Li Yi-Ru dragged Zhao Ling-Er away during their journey; Lin Yue-Ru chased after them immediately; yet, the two had already disappeared from sight, and Yue-Ru was also lost inside the forest.
Lin Yue-Ru: Hm? Where am I?
Lin Yue-Ru climbed up a hill and scanned around. She saw smoke not far away and therefore, headed to the spot, hopefully asking for directions from someone. There was a simple wood house, with its door and windows tightly shut. Yue-Ru knocked on the door. It was not until a long while did the door open a tiny gap. A maiden asked nervously while hiding behind the door:
Maiden: Who are you?
Lin Yue-Ru: I am just a traveler. Have you ever seen —
Suddenly, the maiden yanked open the door. She held Yue-Ru’s hand, anxiety palpable:
Maiden: Have you seen Tom?
Lin Yue-Ru: Tom?
Maiden: He went out for a hunt this morning, but he’s not back yet! Can you help me find him?
Seeing the maiden being so anxious, Yue-Ru could only agree to her request, and investigated the place the maiden had told her. In the forest, Yue-Ru followed a trace she discovered, and found a man on a tree, which wolves surrounded.
Lin Yue-Ru: Are you Tom?
Lin Yue-Ru steadied the injured Tom by his arm, and returned to the wood house. Tom embraced the maiden passionately; Yue-Ru could only wait for them to settle their emotions before asking her questions.
Lin Yue-Ru: Why are you guys living in a secluded place like this?
Maiden: I used to live in Holylight City, and was a maid of a noble family. But my master opposed my marriage with Tom...
Tom: So we eloped and came here. Although it is dangerous here, at least no one will attempt to separate us.
Lin Yue-Ru: But you were almost bitten to death by the wolves. Your wife was about to become a widow.
Tom: Miss, aren’t you going to tell on us?
Lin Yue-Ru: You are willing to shoulder your responsibility as a husband, and your wife is willing to stay by your side.
Lin Yue-Ru: As long as it is so, I don’t think there is a need for me to tell anyone about your whereabouts.
Lin Yue-Ru slipped off a piece of jewelry, and handed it to the couple.
Lin Yue-Ru: Before death comes and separates you two, you’d better find a safe place to live.
Lin Yue-Ru: Although I’m not sure how much this worths in this world, it should help the two of you!
Tom: We have just met you. How could we take it?
Lin Yue-Ru: No worries. My companions and I got separated in the forest, and I need your... Nothing, nevermind.
Seeing the injuries on Tom, Yue-Ru swallowed her words. She asked for some water, and bade the two farewell.
Lin Yue-Ru: Eloping maid... That reminds me quite a story.
To avoid getting lost again, Lin Yue-Ru carved marks on trees while getting through the forest. Finally, she was able to join Li Hsiao-Yao, and again set out to search for Zhao Ling-Er and Li Yi-Ru.
Yet, Lin Yue-Ru knew that the Li Hsiao-Yao before her was not the one who had just become the chief of Shushan, and was troubled by the devils in Ancient China. This Li Hsiao-Yao’s acts were filled with hesitation and helplessness. Nothing about Li Hsiao-Yao could escape from Yue-Ru’s keen eyes.
The two walked silently, and arrived at a river. Li Hsiao-Yao suddenly held Yue-Ru in his arms, before leaping to the other side by using a Technique. When they reached the ground, the two could not help gazing into each other’ s eyes. Li Hsiao-Yao finally confessed: although he looked young now, he was actually in his fifties and was a member of the Seven Saints of Shushan...
Lin Yue-Ru: ... I had realized that you are from a time different to mine as soon as I heard Jiang Yun-Fan call you Master.
Lin Yue-Ru: Now I come to think of it...I had long died in your time, hadn’t I? So it was I who had left you first; I won’t blame you for forgetting me...
Li Hsiao-Yao: Yue-Ru! What are you talking about?! How can I ever forget you?!
Suddenly, an arrow shot at Yue-Ru. Distracted by her deep thought, she almost failed to dodge the attack; the arrow left a wound on her arm. A bandit gang of werelizards came out in all directions; Li Hsiao-Yao immediately stood in front of Yue-Ru —
Blazing Lizard Warrior: Take this!
Li Hsiao-Yao: Surrender, or you will have to pardon me.
Lava Rock Lizard Knight: Nonsense!
While they restarted their journey, Yue-Ru stared at Li Hsiao-Yao like a girl would her new toy. After Li Hsiao-Yao’s confession, Yue-Ru realized he was still loving her. She could not help but smile, when the doubt about him had disappeared .
Lin Yue-Ru: My dear, without us in your life anymore, you must have drunk everyday, am I right?
Li Hsiao-Yao suddenly embraced Yue-Ru; he seemed to have returned to the young and playful Li Hsiao-Yao.
Li Hsiao-Yao: You bet. I am a Drunken Xian now!
Lin Yue-Ru: Silly, you always keep all the troubles to yourself.
Lin Yue-Ru: Whenever you are stressed, you would just meet with the Drunken Xian. You don’t even know how much I am worried about you!
Li Hsiao-Yao: Look who’s talking now. You hid your sickness from me as well... After you had left, do you know how sad Yi-Ru and I were?
Lin Yue-Ru: Then remember me always! Cry as much as you want when you think of me. Let me live in your heart forever.
Li Hsiao-Yao: Yue-Ru...
He held Yue-Ru in his arms tight. Her lips came close to Li Hsiao-Yao’s ear, before she lightly bit on it.
Li Hsiao-Yao: Ouch!
Lin Yue-Ru: Hehe!
Li Hsiao-Yao: Yue-Ru! Wait for me!
Lin Yue-Ru: Come on. Let’s focus and look around for sister Ling-Er and Yi-Ru!
Yue-Ru and Li Hsiao-Yao finally found Zhao Ling-Er’s traces in the forest. But that led to the turf of werewolves. Although it was dangerous, passing through the forest was the fastest way out for the couple. Yet, werewolves had readied for an ambush; wolves suddenly dashed out from bushes. Yue-Ru swung her whip to force them back, but her way was still blocked by werewolves in front of her. They could only unsheathe their swords and fight.
Lin Yue-Ru: My dear! Watch out!
Yue-Ru slashed her sword, and detached the sharp claws of a werewolf. The wolves went berserk and surrounded the two, but Yue-Ru and Li Hsiao-Yao immediately retreated to a wide rocky plain. Seeing Li Hsiao-Yao withdraw his sword and recite a spell, Yue-Ru immediately channeled her pneuma, and protected him wielding both her sword and whip.
A mere while later, Li Hsiao-Yao emptied his bottle of wine, dropped the bottle and bellowed. Drunken Xian’s power exploded from Li Hsiao-Yao; his enormous pneuma crushed the surrounding wolves.
Li Hsiao-Yao: Yue-Ru... Are you alright?
Lin Yue-Ru: My dear... You are going beyond yourself again...
However, the scattered wolves did not recede and instead, stayed at a faraway place glaring at the two. Seizing the short interval of fight, Hsiao-yao and Yue-Ru wiped their sweat for each other. Yue-Ru took out her last snow lotus elixir and put it into Li Hsiao-Yao’s mouth. But to her surprise, Li Hsiao-Yao kissed her and fed her the pill.
Li Hsiao-Yao: Don’t worry. I still haven’t used my full power!
Lin Yue-Ru: Hmph! You only know to push yourself!
The two stood by each other, swords in hands, and faced the incoming wolves —
Lin Yue-Ru: As long as I’m with you, nothing in life shall be blue!
Li Hsiao-Yao: Roaming around, dealing good; together achieving Paladin-hood!
Crimson Werewolf: Roar!
Passing through the forest and the rocky plain, they had finally found Ling-Er and Yi-Ru, though exhausted. They stayed together and caught a breath, before again setting out to search for the Runestone...
Lin Yue-Ru: There is only a camp here. Looks like the Runestone we need is inside.
They were able to withstand the heat of the barren Afire Volcano with Ling-Er’s Techniques. Under the guidance of the crystal, they advanced further in the scorching rocky plain, and had found a camp of werelizards in the depths. Just then, Li Yi-Ru suddenly stopped.
Li Yi-Ru: Dad, mom, mother, can we stay like this a bit longer?
Zhao Ling-Er: Yi-Ru, didn’t we agree to send your dad back as soon as possible?
Li Hsiao-Yao: Yi-Ru, you didn’t listen to your aunt back then. And now you don’t even listen to your mother?
Yi-Ru hid behind Lin Yue-Ru; Yue-Ru patted her head softly.
Li Yi-Ru: Mom, don’t you want to be healthy like this forever? If we go back, you will be unconscious again...
Lin Yue-Ru: Don’t worry. Your dad will be able to take care of it. Let’s find the Runestone as soon as possible, so you and your dad can go home!
Li Yi-Ru: But then... I will have to separate from mother...
Zhao Ling-Er: Yi-Ru, your aunt and grandfather are missing you, just like how you missed me. Don’t you want to see them again?
Yi-Ru pouted, but at least she stopped arguing, and followed the three.
Lin Yue-Ru: Thank you, Ling-Er.
Zhao Ling-Er: I have heard from Yi-Ru. Thank you for what you have done, sister Yue-Ru. It must have been difficult for you all along.
Lin Yue-Ru: When we reunite someday, it will be your turn to serve the Li’s father and daughter here!
Zhao Ling-Er: Alright!
The two held their hands; together with Li Hsiao-Yao and Li Yi-Ru, they advanced to the bandits’ camp...
Lava Rock Lizard Knight: How dare you intrude into our base! Men, kill them all!
Wrathful Lizard Tyrant: This Runestone is my precious treasure. Don’t even think about it!
Li Hsiao-Yao: I am sorry, but I have to get the Runestone! Pardon me!
