On the old alchemist’s request, Sih Kong Yu and Mu-Yue had found Fort Stirling according to the map.
Witnessing the enormous fort, the two were astonished.
Sih Kong Yu: This is magnificent.
Mu-Yue: Agreed. But we should hurry. We do not have much time.
The two entered the fort. Though it looked impressive on the outside, its inside appeared as a lifeless necropolis. They searched through the lower story of the fort but failed to see even a single person.
When they reached the second story, the fort’s alarm suddenly screeched.
Alarm: ‘Intruders on second story. Third squadron, proceed to Zone Three.’
Hearing the sudden broadcast, they immediately glanced their surroundings in caution. Soon after, a squadron arrived before them.
Steam Infantry: Warning. Visitors. Prohibited area ahead. Please return.
Sih Kong Yu: Aren’t these the puppets we are looking for?
Mu-Yue: All the better. We do not even need to bother finding them.
Steam Infantry: Second warning. Visitors. Please turn back.
Sih Kong Yu signaled at Mu-Yue; she then sealed five puppets into her soul-orb. When they wanted to leave the place, a bang sounded behind them. They turned and saw a giant green puppet standing next to a white-haired man.
Midgley: You just took things that don’t belong to you.
Midgley ordered the mechanical soldiers to move Sih Kong Yu; Mu-Yue followed behind them. On the way, she contacted Jiang Ziya with the jade, asking him to get to the fort as soon as possible.
An unknown machine with various wires and tubes attached was operating. The strange feeling triggered discomfort in Mu-Yue’s heart.
Midgley: Relax! This place is now arranged like the magic field you have at Heavenly Kingdom. You’ll be safe here.
Mu-Yue: Thank You. And please pardon me for my harsh words previously.
Midgley: If anything happens to you, it will create difficulties for me too. Please take a rest outside, I’ll have to check his status.
Mu-Yue nodded before leaving the room. But not long after, she began to worry again. She peeked through the door in hopes of seeing the interior when suddenly, a female voice rang at the other end of the corridor!
Gretchen: Hey, you! Why are you lurking around Midgley’s room? He’s conducting an experiment!
Not aware of the situation, Gretchen had assumed Midgley was conducting an experiment, so she is what she said without thinking. Mu-Yue already did not fully trust Midgley; upon hearing the word “experiment” from Gretchen, she thought Midgley might harm Sih Kong Yu. Therefore, she wanted to open the door, but Gretchen grabbed her arm.
Gretchen: Hey! I said you can’t go in!
Mu-Yue: Let go! What do you want to do with him?
Gretchen did not understand why Mu-Yue was so nervous.
Gretchen: Now you’re being rude! No one can enter a laboratory when an experiment is taking place. That is a rule!
Being hindered again and again, Mu-Yue could not hold back and hence summoned her soul-orb.
Midgley: Stop it!
Midgley heard the commotion and hastily walked out of his room.
Midgley: Gretchen! She’s a visitor from Heavenly Kingdom! That Taoist Jiang Ziya has come to get them.
Gretchen: Them? Then the “him” you mentioned about is...this guy?
Gretchen asked while pointing at the lying Sih Kong Yu. Mu-Yue nodded as an answer.
Mu-Yue smiled to show that she did not mind. She then hurriedly went to Sih Kong Yu’s side. She did not notice that her care came from the deep well of sentiments she felt towards this person.
Standing by Sih Kong Yu, Jiang Ziya uttered a spell while spelling seals with his hands. Dots of light appeared and flew towards the jade in Sih Kong Yu’s hand. It shone with light again and he soon woke.
Jiang Ziya the Celestial General: Didn’t I tell you not to leave the magic field? Quickly! Let’s go back!
Sih Kong Yu: But I promised an old man that I would bring him a puppet. I don’t know if...
Midgley: I’ll make an exception and give you one.
They expressed their gratitude before going back to the village. The old alchemist, with Lilith, ran out from the house.
Alchemist: Run! That thing’s out of control!
Sih Kong Yu: What is out...
Before he could finish his question, a bang sounded as the alchemist’s house was reduced to rubble. A peculiar-shaped figure stood from the collapsed house.
Mu-Yue: Excuse me, but what is that?
Alchemist: Just run! That guy has been breathing fire since it woke up!
The figure turned to look at them. It raised its weapon and a tongue of fire burst towards them.
Jiang Ziya looked at the Pawn on the ground.
Jiang Ziya the Celestial General: Elder alchemist, you have quite a broad interest of research. First, you worked with puppet Troops and now, you are working with Pawn soldiers.
Jiang Ziya the Celestial General: Pawns are creatures of Wonderland. An ordinary alchemist should not have something like this.
Alchemist: You and I are not people of the same path. I suggest that you mind your own business.
Mu-Yue summoned the puppet from her soul-orb. Upon seeing it, the alchemist took it and left without looking back. Lilith, on the other hand, bowed to the three in thanks.
Lilith: Thanks to you. Now “Hua-Hsu” has a new body. See you!
Hearing the words “Hua-Hsu”, Mu-Yue’s body subconsciously moved. Sih Kong Yu understood her reaction and soothingly patted the back of her hand; Mu-Yue brightened up and gave him a beautiful smile. Though she did not understand why, she believed that the man in front of her will always be with her.
