In the evening when Nobunaga came to visit Oichi, he was surprised to find her playing with a temari ball alone in the courtyard.
Nobunaga: Great! You look very well today.
Oichi: I couldn’t be better! I feel like I can even beat you now!
Nobunaga: Ha, let’s find out then.
Oichi, whose body had not felt so energetic for a long time, tossed the ball to Nobunaga. However, neither of the two noticed that the long silky brown hair of Oichi was tinged with bewitching silver as the full moon rose.
In addition to that, her breath became short; her face turned terribly pale with an unnatural flush rising to her cheeks. After a moment, Nobunaga finally spotted her abnormality so he hurriedly ran and checked on her with a frown.
Nobunaga: You look pale. Are you alright?
Nobunaga held out his hand to Oichi’s forehead, trying to measure her temperature. Little did he know that Oichi’s eyes stared at his wrist where the pulsating artery lay when he reached out his arm to her.
The next second, Oichi’s eyes turned red, her pupils contracted like a beast ready to hunt. Every part of her body—her throat, her blood vessels—was screaming with hunger and thirst; all of her blood was boiling as if she was standing in burning flames.
As though Oichi felt that beating life in Nobunaga’s body, she could hear the sound of his blood flowing. In that second, countless voices sounded in Oichi’s head, repeating only one word—blood, blood, BLOOD!
Oichi: No… NO!
Nobunaga: Oichi? What’s wrong?
Oichi: …Brother, I feel a bit tired. I think I should go back to my room and take a rest.
Nobunaga: Are you okay walking back alone? I’ll go with——
Oichi: No! I’m FINE!
At the insistence of Oichi, Nobunaga turned around and left. Oichi finally broke down and huddled up in a corner of the courtyard after seeing her brother go out of sight. However, that feeling of hunger only kept growing so she could only fill her head with different thoughts strenuously to keep her sanity. Her eyes slowly drifted as if in a trance.
Oichi: “Just now… I wanted my brother’s blood… What has happened to my body… Someone… can someone please help me…”
Under the full moon, Oichi’s hair turned completely silver that gleamed in the night.
