Wars wiped out Alma’s family. Still just in her adolescence, she joined the army of the Gods. Her agility attracted the attention of the officers and was trained to be an assassin. In a tough battle, Demons released a beast of Demon blood. Alma recognized the beast as the enemy who killed her family and therefore, she fought against it in the battlefront with other Gods. Although they drove the beast back, they had become contaminated by its Demon blood. Being rendered comatose, she resisted the Demon blood in her system, but the vicious toxin had led to the growth of a scorpion tail.
Court of Sagittarius - Hertz: You’re just being meddlesome.
Court of Aries: But if we don’t do something, she will lose any chance of a normal life.
Court of Sagittarius - Hertz: Even she doesn’t fall into madness, I have no means of dealing with the tail.
Court of Aries: What about something mechanic? Aren’t you good with those?
Court of Sagittarius - Hertz: Even I plate the tail with gold, she would still face discrimination.
Court of Aries: At least she won’t be driven mad by the demon’s blood.
Court of Sagittarius - Hertz: Sigh...You win.
Court of Aries: Thank You, Hertz.
The Court put his tender hand on the forehand of the adolescent.
Court of Aries: It’s only because of our lack of power that she can’t be saved —
Shadow: Have you forgotten about yourself? How angry are you?
Alma the Sickle Assassin: You murderer! I won’t go easy on you. I won’t —
Alma the Sickle Assassin: I won’t lose to you!
When Alma woke, her back had a metal scorpion tail. She felt a power from that tail down her waist. Her already agile limbs could now store energy and release it with much more force than before...
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘I won...’
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘I didn’t just kill the murderer. I even suppressed his will — ’
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘Mom, dad...I won!’
She did not have the time to cry out a tear before the sound of steps went into the room. Alma calmed her mind and saw a sergeant with a serious expression coming in and said:
Sergeant: Even with help from Courts of Zodiacs, we did not think you could make it.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Huh! Stop being silly!
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘Help of the Courts...Could it be this metal tail?’
Sergeant: Alma, the others were driven mad by the contamination.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: How come...
Sergeant: We caught some of them, but still, a number of them ran from the army.
Sergeant: To avoid the spreading of the contamination, we —
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Hmph. Haha...
Sergeant: Alma, you —
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Relax, I’m not crazy!
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘My enemy is not completely dead yet — my battle isn’t over!’
Alma returned onto the battlefield as an assassin, stealthily killing the warriors of Gods who were contaminated and hence controlled by Demon blood. All along, Alma had but one tactic: she would stealthily approach the target before dealing the fatal blow with her scorpion tail.
The metal tail went deep in the floor. John stared at Alma, who just missed with her first strike. She leapt up and turned around as if dancing, slashing her broad and heavy scythe. John raised his hands and blocked the attack, the arm blade and the scythe clanked with sparks. Striking twice with no avail stirred Alma's anger.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Die!
Somersaulting forward, Alma lashed down with her tail like a whip, but John had already rolled forward. The two had switched positions as if rehearsed. The scythe danced in the air, its blade gleaming. John leveraged the strikes and bounced far to the back. Maybe it was he had detected Alma’s power, but John actually felt worried for her.
John: Stop. You’ve been deceived!
Alma the Sickle Assassin: You wish for mercy?
John: Listen to me first...
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Die!
John: You are deceived!
John: They have manipulated you to purge dissidents from the army of Gods.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Nonsense!
Seeing her scythe thrusting towards John who was under a pillar, Alma thought she had him. However, a giant claw in the shadow grabbed Alma’s leg, stopping her strike and spinning her into the air. Just then, another claw held her tail and a great force threw her far away. Alma landed unsteadily on the ground, returning to her original position, only to find that John has disappeared.
The angry Alma chased blindly but was shaken off by John.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: He even tried to talk me down...unlike the other contaminated.
On her way back, Alma pondered John’s words through and decided to investigate his background at the camps. Of course, her job rank was insufficient to look into confidential documents of the army. That was why she sneaked into the camps at night and searched everywhere for any record related to John.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: What an exemplary record...No wonder he beat me...
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Though he failed in his last mission...
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ...he was sent to assassinate Lü Bu the Demon General!
Alma tossed the report away.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: What the heck! He wasn’t turned into a Demon by the beast’s blood!
Just after Alma tossed the report, numerous sounds of steps came from every direction. She jumped out of the room but was already surrounded by soldiers.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Okay! I confess! I shouldn’t have barged in. Send me to jail.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘You’ll soon assign missions to me anyway...’
General: Soldier, did you accomplish your mission?
Alma the Sickle Assassin: I did not, general.
General: Alma, is there anything you want to say in your defense?
Alma the Sickle Assassin: Didn’t I just say I confess?
General: Hmph! Disobeying orders and trespassing, huh?
General: I hereby announce:
General: Soldier Alma is controled by Demons and shall be executed immediately!
Alma the Sickle Assassin: You’re overreacting!
Alma the Sickle Assassin: This power — You are one of the Demons!
At the decisive moment, the enemy’s cursed scarlet sword swung at her waist and Alma sticked her scythe into the ground, blocking the hard attack with its blade. However, the cursed sword cut clean through the scythe like a knife cutting through hot butter. Alma decided to discard her weapon and bounced on the wall to her enemy, locking his shoulders with her hands. The Demon general struggled with all his might. Alma’s tail was cut into pieces and her back was slashed with the dancing sword.
When the general finally suffocated, Alma fell down as well. The sound of reinforcement reached her ears, but she had lost the strength to flee and the loss of blood put her in a coma.
???: Hang in there!
In a daze, Alma felt herself fading, but she wasn’t floating in the air. Something was holding her, giving her a warmth like a campfire.
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘Right...I still have a lot to do...’
The blood of the beast and the power of constellations swirled inside her. An image of a statue holding an astrolabe appeared from the blankness in her mind.
Astralist: Alma, are you confident that you can always be decisive...
Astralist: ...and that you will objectively uphold all morals?
Alma the Sickle Assassin: ‘What are you talking about? For whom have I ever changed?’
Astralist: Alma, carry through that thought with our power —
Novalis the Dragon Follower: Darn...Why can’t I shake it off...
Novalis, with his wand, blocked the attacks from the sting-tail. Red strings guided the metal-shell and led it with a dance through the ruins. The tail’s master pestered Novalis from an unseen location; she conserved her energy for the impending assault.
Court of Scorpio - Alma: If I don’t show up, are you just going to fight a running battle like this?
Alma’s voice came from his back. Novalis could almost feel her breath in it. The power of dragon burst from him. Alma lightly hopped into the air and protected herself with her scythe, letting herself be blown away by the strong shockwave, and landing with her metal shell hitting a pillar. Alma clenched her right fist and the flying tail went to her back and combined with the rest of it. Novalis was filled with the power of dragon and yelled:
Novalis the Dragon Follower: God, why do you hinder me!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: Boy, you can’t pursue a girl that aggressively!
Novalis the Dragon Follower: What is between Ursula and I is none of your business!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: But if you are driven mad by the dragon blood in your body...
Court of Scorpio - Alma: ...then it would be my business.
Novalis the Dragon Follower: What do you want!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: Not much. Just to test your power!
Novalis the Dragon Follower: You know nothing yet dare speak so callously?!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: Do you get irritated this easily?
Court of Scorpio - Alma: What? Tired?
Court of Scorpio - Alma: Weren’t you boasting just moments before?
The heavy scythe pierced Novalis’ wing. The scorpion tail wrapped him and pinned him on a pillar. Even though he could conjure Faugn’s power, if he took in too much, the wild Faugn would consume his will...Rage abetted Novalis but he still endured with every bit of his energy.
Court of Scorpio - Alma: Hmph! Didn’t you say you’d teach me a lesson?
Court of Scorpio - Alma: What? Are your dragon wings just decorations?
Novalis the Dragon Follower: You —
Novalis the Dragon Follower: ‘Calm down! I can give up anytime.’
Novalis the Dragon Follower: ‘Now let’s catch my breath and see what she’s up to...’
Court of Scorpio - Alma: You’re even worse than a monkey with wings!
Alma kept flinging abuse and she stepped onto Novalis’ tail.
Court of Scorpio - Alma: Maybe I should tear off your tail and let you learn how to fight like a monkey...
Alma leant over and pushed her scythe further.
Court of Scorpio - Alma: And your wings.
Court of Scorpio - Alma: If I tear off this decoration, you can learn to swim from your little girlfriend.
The furious Novalis was about to strike back, but Alma suddenly leapt backwards and pulled out her scythe, loosening her tail at the same time. Novalis’ dash went awry and he fell onto the floor. A crowd of people, along with rippling sounds of water, appeared simultaneously. Alma and Novalis were surrounded by heretics and a tentacled witch.
The Great Mother of Lust: Nice to meet you, Court of —
Court of Scorpio - Alma: I know you, tentacle hag. How’s Faugn’s appetite lately?
The Great Mother of Lust: If you give me the boy behind you, I will forgive your arrogance.
Novalis the Dragon Follower: I, I don’t belong to anyone!
Novalis retrieved his weapon and said, but no one cared. The witch and Alma stared at each other while the gaps on the scorpion tail radiated red light.
Court of Scorpio - Alma: Compared to an insatiable lunatic...
Court of Scorpio - Alma: I’d rather let the adolescent boy take the power of Faugn.
Novalis the Dragon Follower: Who are you calling an adolescent boy!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: You performed better than I expected!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: I’ve changed my perception towards your generation!
The Great Mother of Lust: ...Ahem!
The Great Mother of Lust: We’re here to take back what belongs to us.
The Great Mother of Lust: We don’t plan to be an enemy to the Courts of Zodiacs!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: But I don’t mind bringing you down.
They stared at each other menacingly as tension spread. At the moment, a ray of light shone from the sky and a Court of Zodiacs with golden wings descended —
Court of Virgo - Persephone: Elm — Court of Scorpio! Please stop provoking people!
Court of Scorpio - Alma: I didn’t.
Persephone landed by Alma’s side. Her presence drained the heretics of their will to fight. Persephone bowed gracefully to the witch. Elements suddenly fell upon Alma and Novalis, healing their wounds.
Court of Virgo - Persephone: Saintly Maiden of Primordial Gods, please forgive us.
Court of Virgo - Persephone: But we cannot let you acquire the power of the Ethereal Dragon.
The Great Mother of Lust: So, the Gods are planning to stand against Primordial Gods?
Court of Scorpio - Alma: I just hate you.
Court of Virgo - Persephone: Alas...You do this everytime...
