Syu Siao-Syue lost both her parents when she was just a child; and her younger brother had gone lame because of a serious illness. Therefore, she was regarded as a bane and persecuted by the villagers.
Every year, the villagers would draw lots to choose a maiden from a random family as sacrifice for the River God. This year, the herbalist’s family was chosen; but Siao-Syue volunteered herself to serve as the sacrifice instead; in exchange, the herbalist will treat her brother’s lame leg...
Village Head: Throw in the sacrifice!
The villagers kicked Siao-Syue down to the watery cavern. She suppressed her tears, awaiting the arrival of the River God. Unexpectedly, a man jumped down the cave, yelling about rescuing Siao-Syue.
Chen Jing-Ciou: I know your village offer a maiden to it as sacrifice every year and none returned! What kind of God would demand living people as sacrifice?
Syu Siao-Syue: But... But... The River God... He will punish us.....
Chen Jing-Ciou: I’m certain this is the work of a monster!
Demonic Fish: Ugh! Didn’t I say that I only eat girls, not boys?
Chen Jing-Ciou: You evil monster! I won’t let you hurt the innocent anymore!
Demonic Fish: I’m afraid you’ll not be so lucky this time!
Since then, Siao-Syue had followed Chen Jing-Ciou on adventures, beginning her fated destiny as the legendary reincarnation of Ancient Artifact...
Since leaving the village, Siao-Syue had been following Jing-Ciou on on adventures. They met Tuo Ba Yu-Er, a strong-minded maiden. Together, the trio overcame distress and adversities and became the best of friends.
However, they were then misled by Du Gu Ning-Ke, thinking his plan was one of self-indulgence. As the reincarnation of the Stone of Origin, she could communicate with Yu Wun Tuo in their dreams. That was how she found out that Yu Wun Tuo was actually trying to prevent a catastrophe.
Later, Siao-Syue tried to explain to Yu-Er and Jing-Ciou that Yu Wun Tuo’s intentions were misunderstood; but she could not do so clearly. To stop Yu Wun Tuo, Chen Jing-Ciou even began a battle with the former’s followers. Siao-Syue had originally came with the intention of pacifying, but seeing the battle brought panic to her heart. Left without a choice, she charged onto the battlefield where blades clashed to fight her companions...
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: Yu-Er... Don’t... Don’t hurt General Han!
Chen Jing-Ciou: Siao-Syue!
General Han: You shall be placed in charge of protecting me!
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: Okay...
Chen Jing-Ciou: Yu-Er!
Chen Jing-Ciou: Darn! I must stop this!
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: ‘I am sorry... dear Jing-Ciou...’
Chen Jing-Ciou: Siao-Syue, what’re you doing —
Chen Jing-Ciou: Come here; come with us!
General Han: Little brats, for the sake of Ms Siao-Syue, I will spare your lives today!
General Han: Don’t push you luck!
On their journey, there were many twists and turns. Though the misunderstanding between them was later cleared up, Yu-Er was killed by Du Gu Ning-Ke and Jing-Ciou's memories of Yu-Er were wiped... Siao-Syue could never forget their time together on the back of a giant whale. The sea breeze brought with it wave of saltiness. Kneeling and holding her musical instrument pipa in arms, Tuo Ba Yu-Er pensively tuned it.
The time vortex had dragged the people from ancient China into this realm. The power of the alien realm collided with the elements here, triggering uncontrollable turbulence. To prevent the realm from collapsing, as well as to protect the people of ancient China from being engulfed by the elemental power, Jiang Ziya temporarily confined them in a magic field and went to find a way for them to return to Ancient China.
Chen Jing-Ciou had been travelling around with Siao-Syue; but the time vortex brought them to this realm. The pair, having been rejuvenated, reunited with the resurrected Tuo Ba Yu-Er.
The scene of their reunion remained clear in Siao-Syue’s mind. She hugged Yu-Er and cried, with tears of joy streaming down; Yu-Er patted her head to comfort her. But Chen Jing-Ciou just stood aside in a daze, and introduced himself to Yu-Er as new acquaintance.
In the past, he had been the guardian of the Stage of Loss and lost the most precious memories in his life — the memories and remembrance for the deceased Yu-Er. Upon seeing this, Siao-Syue really wanted to contribute.
Syu Siao-Syue: ‘Since this mysterious power has the ability to summon us here, maybe it can help me to retrieve Jing-Ciou’s memories...
Syu Siao-Syue: If I can unlock the magical stage set up by Mr. Jiang, I will be able to find out the source of the power...’
Celestial Divinity - Yuanshi Tianzun: Who’s there? How dare you to trespass on Grand Master Jiang’s stage!
Syu Siao-Syue: I just want to learn about the magic used to establish the stage! I come bearing no malice!
???: You have interfered in its operation the moment you forced your way into the stage using the power of another realm!
???: Sigh... Don't say that I didn't try to stop you..
Syu Siao-Syue arrived in front of Mr. Jiang’s stage to find that it was driven by the power of Ancient Artifacts. When she wanted to take a closer look, a shout from behind stopped her.
Chen Jing-Ciou: Don’t go there! You’ve broken a corner of the stage.
Syu Siao-Syue: I am sorry, dear Jing-Ciou...
Chen Jing-Ciou: Don’t worry.
Then, Chen Jing-Ciou walked into the stage. Pressing his fingers in a unique gesture, he drew a seal and cast a spell to mend the damaged stage.
Chen Jing-Ciou: That Taoist didn’t lie to me. Mr. Jiang really set up the stage with this spell...
Syu Siao-Syue: Jing-Ciou?
Chen Jing-Ciou: Nothing!
But on the next day, Chen Jing-Ciou disappeared from the field...
Siao-Syue had been searching for a few days in the field; but she could not find any trace of Chen Jing-Ciou. Originally, Siao-Syue planned to take this opportunity for Jing-Ciou to get to know Yu-Er again as they could not have expected that they would have a chance to meet again. Even if he could not recall his past , they could become friends with one another once more.
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: Jing-Ciou have been busying himself all over, in the hope of finding out the truth behind this turbulence; but he had never spoke of his plan...
Syu Siao-Syue: Jing-Ciou... Is he worried about us?
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: Maybe after the Crimson Meteor incident, Jing-Ciou dares not trust so easily.
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: And furthermore, he doesn’t want to implicate those important to him.
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: I think, I can understand him...
Syu Siao-Syue: Yu-Er...
After searching in vain, they believed that Chen Jing-Ciou had left the magic field. Determined to find Jing-Ciou, Siao-Syue decided to leave the magic field as well...
Wen Zhong the Mercy Revealer: Ms Syu! The outside world is dangerous; please stop!
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: Don’t worry, Brother Wen. We've planned a countermeasure to resist the corrosion from the elemental power outside.
Wen Zhong the Mercy Revealer: I cannot allow to you take the risk.
Wen Zhong the Mercy Revealer: Pardon me!
Wen Zhong the Mercy Revealer: You are... a true heroine...
Syu Siao-Syue: I am sorry, Brother Wen...
Holding Siao-Syue’s hand, Tuo Ba Yu-Er dragged her into a sprint. Siao-Syue recalled their old adventures together — the three of them together running through the ancient tomb. Tuo Ba Yu-Er focused herself only on dashing on; she did not notice that Siao-Syue was crying and laughing at the same time.
They ran to the border of the magic field. When they were about to cast the protection spell, they saw Mr. Jiang was returning with Chen Jing-Ciou on Sibuxiang across the clouds.
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: Jing-Ciou, you idiot! You have wasted our time and effort!
Syu Siao-Syue: Yu-Er... thank you very much... In the past, I have always relied on you; and even now, you still care so much about me...
Tuo Ba Yu-Er wiped away Siao-Syue tears, and embraced her gently.
Tuo Ba Yu-Er: Jing-Ciou always pick on you because of your timid nature! You should berate him later; show him a wife’s almighty authority!
Siao-Syue softly agreed. But in her mind, all she thought about was playing the song that represents their friendship. At that moment, she no longer cared about the affairs in this strange realm. As long as they could be together, she was content anywhere, even the ends of the earth...
