Little Yocto: To grasp its true meaning, I need to combine the front and back patterns.
Teacher: Master Yocto is studying ancient words again.
Little Yocto: Yes! They’re really interesting! Different combinations of patterns may have different meanings.
Little Yocto: I know ancient words are not very useful now, but they’re still intriguing…
Teacher: Knowledge is power. It’ll be useful some day. Alright! I’ll join you after the lesson.
Yocto showed a brilliant smile. He put aside the ancient books, took out a textbook, and read aloud with his teacher. Yocto was born into a family of scholars. As an aristocrat, he had had great exposure to various books since he was young. He began to learn ancient words and became very interested in them. At the tender age, Yocto had already possessed a certain level of understanding of ancient words.
However, as war became more frequent, the King levied heavy taxes on his people, even on the nobles like Yocto. Following the continued heavy taxation, Yocto’s family overspent and became poverty-stricken. Finally, they had to lay off their servants and sell the mansion.
As the family was poor, Yocto no longer continued his study on ancient words and other things. To make a living, he worked as a miner. It was hard work for little money, but he had to endure it. Worse still, his parents' health had broken down and they had died of overwork one after the other, leaving Yocto all by himself. At this moment, he recalled Colin’s words all of a sudden...
Colin: Wow! Unbelievable! I never expected there to be a huge place like this here!
Yocto: Yeah...looks like it’s a tomb.
Colin: Thanks to your knowledge of those patterns on the rock, we can get in here! You’re awesome!
Teacher: “Knowledge is power. It’ll be useful some day.”
Yocto smiled as the teacher’s words came to his mind. At the young age, he learnt ancient words because he was interested in them; however, he had never thought that this knowledge would become the key to save Colin and himself in future. Yocto was looking at the tomb and tried to find the way out.
Yocto and Colin were cautiously searching for a way out of the tomb. Yocto had also deciphered the ancient words on the wall, hoping to dig out some clues.
Yocto: “Star trails are the seal and also the traction.”
Yocto: “Primordial dragons are imprisoned in the galaxy, waiting for a fissure in the sky.”
Yocto said as he looked at the mural. Guided by the paint and the text, he walked to a dusty sarcophagus at the center of the tomb. He blew the dust away and wiped it off, discovering some ancients words engraved on it…
Yocto: “The light, shining through the land, engulfs the darkness. Destruction is meant to be reborn.”
Judging from the riddle, Yocto believed the answers to the mural and the ancient words, as well as how to get out, might all lie in the sarcophagus. He pushed the lid off and saw a skeleton wearing priest clothing inside. Its hands were holding a dilapidated book...
Yocto: “Maybe all the answers are inside the book…”
Yocto tried to get the book, but he couldn’t remove it from the skeleton; it was as if it didn’t want anyone to steal the book.
Yocto: Colin! Come here and help me!
Colin: What are you trying to do?
Yocto: Once I move his hands up, you get the book.
Colin had a lot of questions, but he had to focus on the timing because Yocto was lifting up its hands already. Yocto could only move them up a bit at his full strength and Colin caught the time to take the book. Suddenly, the bottom of the sarcophagus sagged, revealing a secret path! There was light at the end of the passage and they could hear water flowing inside.
Yocto: Looks like a way out. Colin! Hold tight!
They slid down in the direction of the light, which was so strong that they could barely open their eyes. Moments later, Yocto and Colin were in a river. Luckily, the current was not rapid and the water only reached Yocto’s waist. Yocto waded across the river and found land nearby. The two laid down and rested. Yocto opened the book out of curiosity; there was only one sentence on the first page.
Yocto: “When the stars are right, we shall use the Runestones as to guide the Elder God’s descent”...
Yocto: “When the stars are right, we shall use the Runestones as to guide the Elder God’s descent”. What’s that about?
Colin: Yocto, what are you mumbling? Jeez...I’m all wet…
Yocto: Let’s go home! Otherwise, you’ll get cold.
Yocto offered shelter to the homeless Colin, giving him the clothes he used to wear as a kid. Aften Colin went to sleep, Yocto started reading the book from the tomb. It was a book related to the legends of the “primordial dragons”.
Yocto: “In the void of darkness, the primordial dragons used elements to create the world, and so began the new life.”
Yocto: So it’s about the primordial dragons creating the realm.
Yocto took his time to read the book thoroughly, immersing himself in that ancient legends.
The primordial dragons used elements to create the realm in the void of darkness.
The dragons used it as their habitat. Beasts, werelizards and elves began to emerge.
Although different races existed in the realm, they lived in harmony.
The primordial dragons were satisfied with the world they made. Everything was working as expected.
Later on, the primordial dragons discovered that their existence would eventually ruin the realm because of their tremendous power, so they left.
Since then, the dragons had been waiting in the other world for the right time to return to the realm...
Yocto witnessed everything that had happened in the past through the book——the creation of the realm, the harmony among races and the vision of the primordial dragons...But after the dragons left, the realm was in chaos. After knowing the truth, Yocto was sad that all life forms had killed each other for their own benefits.
Yocto: If the dragons had not left, the realm might not have ended up like this...
Yocto: Only the primordial dragons have the power to correct this injustice and bring redemption.
Yocto: “What should I do?”
At the moment, a gust of wind flipped through the pages. Yocto was trying to stop it and coincidentally discovered the method to summon the dragons in the book. He wanted to figure out how to do it, but the records were too fragmentary. After witnessing the peacefulness the primordial dragons had brought to the realm, Yocto was determined to conjure them back. Thus, he began to search for some references related to the creation and origin of the realm...
Since finding out about the history of the primordial dragons, Yocto believed that only they had the power to rectify this corrupted world. To find ways to summon the dragons, he studied the book carefully and borrowed references from different places. Finally, he had a clue about how to bring them back. However, Yocto could not succeed without the help of others, people like him——believers of the primordial dragons.
While Yocto were studying the summoning methods, he also learnt how to control the elements from the primordial dragons in the book. However, his skill was by far not as sophisticated as the dragons. To gather more believers, Yocto travelled the realm with Colin. They helped people in need and shared with them the tales of the primordial dragons and their miracles.
Yocto and Colin came to a village covered in black smoke. Someone was screaming for help. Yocto smiled and rushed into it with Colin...
Bandit: Haha! What a beautiful lady!
Heavenly Fairy: Stay away! Somebody help!
Yocto: How pathetic! Your filthy act has completely destroyed the world the primordial dragons created...
Yocto gathered elemental power to conjure several phantom dragons to attack the bandits! The dragons looked surreal but they were physically there. The bandits did not see this coming and were either crushed or ripped off. They tried to escape, but ended up being killed by the dragons. The villagers were all grateful for Yocto’s help, but he emphasised that the credit actually belonged to the primordial dragons, not him.
Yocto: Only the primordial dragons can bring redemption to the realm. We must destroy everything, to begin the new life.
Influenced by Yocto’s words, the villagers started to believe in the primordial dragons and follow Yocto as worshippers.
Since then, Yocto and Colin continued to help different people and preach the legend of the primordial dragons and their belief to the people they saved. The people they rescued thought they could regain hope with the help of the dragons. They followed Yocto and worshipped the dragons. Soon, there were more and more believers, and it had developed into an unique religion.
Nevertheless, belief in the primordial dragons was unusual in most people’s eyes. Yocto and the followers were treated as heretics. Despite all this, Yocto was determined to bring the dragons back. He asked the followers to look for trails and books left behind. Then, he found a girl named Tawil, who was also studying the tales of the dragons just like he was. Therefore, he decided to approach her to find out more about the existence of the dragons.
With the help of the followers, Yocto sneaked into the Great Enchanter Seminar and found that girl...
