A train was traveling across a vast land, producing burnt smoke into the air.
This daily routine was, however, interrupted by a sudden flash, as if marking an opening to the upcoming drama. Two lights landed into a car in the middle of the train…
Riza: “Hmm? Why am I in a dark place? I was walking Black Hayate…”
Riza got a clearer image of the dimmed surroundings after her eyes adapted.
Riza: “This is...a train car...So I’m transferred to a moving train...but why? Did the homunculi do this?”
Riza pulled out her gun vigilantly as she heard some crashing noises.
Tiptoeing her way, Riza managed to approach the sound source without hitting any obstacles.
Very soon, she saw a man moaning and pressing his knee cap. Apparently he had bumped into something.
Meanwhile, Riza sneaked up on and pointed her gun at him.
Riza: Stop moving or I’ll shoot you!
???: I won’t, so please don’t shoot me. If I die, many people would be sad.
Riza: “Wait, this voice…
Sunlight shone into the car when the train finally left the long tunnel. As the car became bright again, the identities of the two were revealed.
Roy: Umm...First Lieutenant, can you put down your weapon before we talk? It’s hard for me to focus when there’s a gun pointing at me.
Riza: Oh, sorry.
After laying down her gun, Riza became more confused as she looked around.
Riza: I’ve never seen such a train design...Have we left Central City?
Roy: It’s not that simple. I’ve never seen this kind of train in any division. We might have left Amestris...I was working in the Central Command one moment ago and now I’m here…
Riza: Me too. I was walking Black Hayate, and everything became dark in the next second like I just got teleported...I wonder if Black Hayate is alright…
???: Do you mean the doggie? I know where he is.
Riza pointed the gun at where a soft female voice sounded immediately.
???: If you’re talking about a doggie with black and white pattern, I know where he is.
A petite figure walked out of the dark, who appeared to be a 12-year-old girl. Despite at such a young age, she already had an impressive beauty.
Riza didn’t drop her guard even to a child. She gripped her gun tight and asked calmly.
Riza: Who are you?
Riza: “It wasn’t supposed to have other people here. How could she...She’s like appearing out of nothing.”
???: My name is Doya...I mean no harm…
Riza: Show me your proof——
Riza’s interrogation was stopped by Roy, who raised his arm as a signal sternly.
Roy: First Lieutenant, there’s no way that this adorable little girl is a villain. Are you Doya? What a gorgeous name.
Doya: Well...Thank you.
Roy: You’re welcome. Can you tell me how old——Ouch! Lieutenant, why did you trample my feet?
Riza: Cause I’m afraid that you’ll break the law if I don’t stop you.
Doya was amused by their interactions. Her innocence made Riza’s attitude soften.
Riza: “...Seems she is just a kid.”
Riza: Then can you please tell me where Black Hayate is?
Inside the catering cart, a robust man was sharpening his knife. Behind him, there was a cage with a black-and-white dog inside.
The dog, unwilling to be kept in the cage, kept bashing it, drawing the man’s attention.
As the man approached the cage with a knife, the dog stepped back and growled at him.
Chef: What an energetic animal, but you’ll be quiet very soon. Hmm, should I fry or make a stew…
The chef continued knife-sharpening at his work station; meanwhile, everything that had happened was witnessed by the three people hiding at the corner.
Riza: That’s Black Hayate. I’m going——Colonel?
Roy: Let me handle it. You two stay here.
Riza: Colonel, can you do it alone?
Roy: Humph! I’m the Flame Alchemist. I can take a minion down easily.
Chef: Phew, the work is done. Let’s see if the knife is sharp enough——
Roy: Let go of that dog!
Chef: Humph! Another trouble!
Chef: Go to hell!
Pulling the knife out of the pipe, the chef attacked Roy again. On the other hand, Roy was unable to ignite no matter how many times he had rubbed his fingers.
Roy Mustang: Humph! I can’t ignite with wet gloves…
The agile Riza took out her gun, sprinted to Roy and aimed at the berserk chef——
Chef: AHHH! M-My hand!
???: Hey! I heard gunshot over there! Let’s check the car!
Doya: No! Those are the researchers on the train. They’ll capture us if they find us!
Riza: Don’t be scared. I’ll protect you!
After reloading her gun, Riza pointed it at the door where the researchers would enter…
Researcher A: Ah!
Researcher B: Whoa——!
Researcher C: Help...Mmm!
It didn’t take Riza long to take down all incoming researchers. Doya, witnessing the whole battle, applauded.
Roy: Impressive, First Lieutenant. That’s why I entrust my six o’clock to you.
Riza: Colonel, please bear in mind that you’re useless when your gloves are wet.
Defeated by Riza’s words, Roy knelt down on the ground in despair, while Doya patted his shoulder to comfort him. At this moment, Roy found some red stains on his gloves, which was seemingly caused by the fluid.
Roy: Wait, it wasn’t water that spilled on my gloves…
Riza: It smells like...blood…
Roy: So it was blood that flows inside the pipes...Dammit! What is going on in this train!
Doya suddenly stood up, grasping her clothes nervously. As tears started welling up in her eyes, she became emotional.
Doya: It’s Cilantro’s blood...She was captured by the bad guys...It’s all my fault...Boohoo…
Roy: Sigh...Why are you crying…
Riza: It’s your fault, colonel.
???: Okay. Let’s investigate this train.
The deadly silence was interrupted by a teenager’s voice sounding from the rear part of the train.
Roy: This voice…
Riza: Yes. That must be him. They were brought here too.
