Before the Elder Gods left the realm, they created two guardians, Cooper and Fafnir. The Elder Gods also granted the guardians five gemstones of their own power, hoping their guardians could utilize the gemstones to take care of the realm. The two took their separate ways. During her journey, Cooper found out that the power Elder Gods had used to create the realm still remained in the realm. Therefore, she gathered them into a crystal sphere, and created two gigantic dragons, Shu and Seth, to protect it.
Because of their difference in experiences, Cooper and Fafnir developed contradictory views over the realm. Cooper thought that they should let the realm develop by itself, but Fafnir believed that they should eradicate anything that could harm the realm. To achieve her aim, Fafnir attempted to compel Cooper’s surrender of the three gemstones in her possession...
Fafnir: The Venerable Elder Gods asked us to take care of the realm, and you are letting them destroy it without acting! You have betrayed our Gods!
Cooper: Humans are the creation of the Venerable Elder Gods! Though they may have myriad mistakes, complete eradication is too drastic! Life is precious, and our Gods treasure it! Now that you are neglecting their concerns, you are the one who have betrayed them!
Fafnir: Hmph. If you are not willing to give me Elder Gods’ power, then, I shall take it myself! Do not blame me!
Pilatus: No matter what you do, I will not give you the Venerable Elder Gods’ power. And I will not let you take innocent lives!
Fafnir: Humans kill fellow Humans and other creatures for their own self interest. How are they innocent? They must die!
Cooper: Life and death is not ours to decide! They are created by the Venerable Elder Gods. Only they can decide the Humans’ fate!
Cooper knew that she must not let Fafnir attain Elder Gods’ power, or else only disaster awaits. However, if they fought here, the power of Elder Gods would annihilate the realm...She now had only one option. Cooper looked towards Pilatus, and the latter nodded as if he had understood Cooper’s decision.
Cooper: I shall let none harm this realm!
To prevent Fafnir from achieving her ambition, Cooper murmured a spell, sealing Elder Gods’ power back into the gemstones. However, the spell exhausted Cooper; she would have to wait for years before releasing Pilatus and the other dragons again...
Fafnir: How dare you...!
Having long merged with Elder Gods’ power, no matter how Fafnir resisted, she could not avoid being sealed within one of the gemstones. Before she could even finish speaking, she had already turned into a golden gemstone, along with the other dragons. When Cooper reached out her hand, hoping to stroke Pilatus’ gemstone, the four stones suddenly radiated blinding light. When the light finally faded, the four gemstones were gone.
To avoid Fafnir’s capture of the gemstones imbued with Elder Gods’ power, Cooper could only seal the power back into the gemstones with a spell. With a sudden radiance of intense light, the gemstones scattered towards different directions. Cooper had known of the consequence of using the spell, but she was unable to stop it from happening. Therefore, she had to embark on the journey to find her companions alone.
Fortunately, she was also one of the creations that had originated from Elder Gods’ power. Hence, she could sense the gemstones; as long as she was near them, she could estimate their approximate location. In the cascade of time, Cooper witnessed the rise and fall of various Human civilizations, the evolution of species and the changes of nature.
Some time later, Cooper began to see peculiar phenomena across the realm. Blizzards appeared in places where snow was not suppose to fall; severe drought emerged in places that previously rained frequently. Hence, she investigated along these clues, and reached a conclusion after years of observation — the realm was gradually disintegrating!
Cooper had never forgotten the mission Elder Gods gave her. The purpose behind her very existence was to care for the realm of Humans. She originally started her journey to locate her missing companions, but now there was one more goal — to find the culprit and cause behind the realm’s creeping disintegration. She traveled to every corner of the realm and investigated every race. But clues proliferated and suspects abounded...
Cooper: ‘What is with this tower? Are my senses deteriorating? Why am I sensing shreds of Elder Gods’ power coming from it?’
By happenstance, her travels brought her to a tower so tall that it pierced through the sky. At first, she did not pay much attention to it, but when she neared the tower, she sensed Elder Gods’ power emanating from within it. If not for Cooper’s existence as a creation of the Elder Gods, she might have missed this peculiarity of the tower. She began to wonder if the tower was related to the realm’s disintegration, so began investigating it.
Upon entering the tower, Cooper could feel the immense power of Elder Gods radiating. But the tower was not of the Elder Gods’ creation, why would it resonate with her? This question baffled Cooper.
Cooper walked to the wall. When she stroked the bricks, the sensation startled her, prompting her to withdraw her hand. Each brick was overflowed with Elder Gods’ power, and it was streaming upwards. This pilfering of power is the reason behind the emergence of unexplainable phenomena across the realm. Cooper wanted to climb to the top of the tower and see who was stealthily pilfering the realm’s elemental power; but she soon discovered the peculiar seals in the tower. She could hardly proceed by herself.
Later, Cooper discovered to her surprise that it had been Zeus, the Thunderous Supremacy, who had ordered Humans to build the tower. She had kept an eye on these alien Gods all along, and she knew they had been traveling across worlds in search of a suitable home. Yet, she had never imagined that they were stealing Elder Gods’ power.
If she was to stop them, Cooper needed immense power and assistance to succeed...
When Pilatus was being sealed into the gemstone, he could saw Cooper reaching for him, palpably not truly willing to let him go. Therefore, Pilatus had leant his head against the gemstone, so that it would be like they could sense each other even when separated by the gem. However, when Cooper’s hand neared, blinding light radiated from all the gemstones. After the light faded, Pilatus could no longer see Cooper. Instead, he was surrounded by a group of curious Humans.
Pilatus had landed in a kingdom after the completion of Cooper’s spell. Seeing Pilatus’ gemstone falling from the sky, Humans there deemed it a mystical stone granted by the God they worshipped. Thus, they enshrined it in their temple. The king had issued a law that all could only observe the gemstone; all contact with the stone was prohibited. One day, a maiden came to the temple in worship. Thinking that Cooper had finally arrived for him, Pilatus was elated.
Pilatus: ‘Cooper! I am in here!’
Pilatus called for her in his heart, but when he focused his sight on the comer, he realized that it was merely a Human who looked a lot like Cooper. His hope crushed again, Pilatus could not help but become frustrated. But he soon told himself to have faith in Cooper, and that they would see each other again one day.
Later, Pilatus, in his gemstone at the temple, witnessed the kingdom’s fall. Every citizen resettled, and the kingdom gradually became barren. As time passed and the landscape changed, the entire temple sank underground. Since then, Pilatus lived a life without daylight.
Some time later, the closed door suddenly opened. Pilatus silently observed the four comers. They did not seem like Humans, but “creatures” Pilatus had never seen. Peering at them while listening to their conversation, Pilatus learnt that they were seeking “Ancient Dragon Power”. Coincidentally, the power he radiated was similar to that of the Ancient Dragons and hence, had attracted the four.
Just as they were studying Pilatus, a familiar figure — one Pilatus had long been expecting — appeared at the entrance...
Cooper: Pilatus...I finally found you...
Mark-II: Stop. Or. I fire.
Cooper: It is time.
After painstakingly searching over the years, Cooper finally managed to locate Pilatus in the vast realm. Now with her power recovered, Cooper again had the strength to release them from the gemstones. She approached Pilatus’ gemstone before murmuring a spell; the gemstone radiated bright green light as rock of various sizes gathered around it, reconstructing Pilatus’ dragon body.
Pilatus finally reunited with Cooper. They touched each other lightly with their own cheeks; their promise, spanning years, was finally fulfilled.
Gretchen: What exactly is going on?
Cooper was jubilant after reuniting with Pilatus. However, the gradual destruction of the realm by Gods was of utmost importance. Hence, she put aside her joy of reunion, and focused back onto the crisis at hand. To fight the Gods, she had to seek more and greater power. Cooper turned to the scholars. Grim-faced, she said:
Cooper: The wheel of fate has started turning. All are involved. None can escape...
Cooper: If you do not wish to see your realm destroyed, please offer your assistance!
After reuniting with Pilatus, Cooper shared her knowledge with the scholars, hoping they could lend her a hand in stopping Zeus’ scheme. They told the scholars of both Enochian Tower’s peculiarity and also the unexplainable phenomena across the realm...
Cooper: Speculating from the current situation, the realm will soon fully disintegrate if we do not do anything, and none will be spared.
Gretchen: Indeed. Strange changes are taking place around the realm, just like the massive earthquake not long ago...
Cooper: Our power is not enough to oppose the Gods.
Lisa: If we can locate Ancient Dragon Power, then maybe we can rival the Gods’ power.
Gretchen: That’s right! You’re emanating power similar to Ancient Dragon Power.
Gretchen: With your help, I’m sure we’ll find it soon!
Cooper and Pilatus exchanged a glance before agreeing to help the scholars seek Ancient Dragon Power, while the scholars focused on developing new and powerful weapons in preparation for the fight against the Gods.
Not only scholars, but scientists around the realm were willing to do anything to attain the legendary Ancient Dragon Power. Although Cooper was able to resonate with Ancient Dragon Power, sometimes she was misled by scientists’ peculiar experiments.
Even though their endeavor was not fruitful, Cooper and the scholars did not give up on their search. They continued to plan possible routes with reference to various classics. Though they had visited myriad places, they were now on yet another journey across the ocean, planning to carry on their investigation at an abandoned ancient city.
Just then, huge waves suddenly emerged on the originally calm sea, and the weather conditions gradually deteriorated. The scholars thought it was one of the abnormal phenomena caused by the disintegration of the realm, but Cooper and Pilatus were seen nervously focusing ahead. Therefore, Lisa took out the Ancient Dragon tracker, and was surprised to read a signal from the direction the two dragons were staring.
Cooper: We are close.
The scholars nervously peered at the front from the fort, and in the stormy weather, they finally noticed an enormous figure...
