After a series of incidents, Tristan, whose family owned a map store, went on a journey to find Star Stones with Arthur, the daughter of King Uther, and her friends to unseal the Excalibur so as to overthrow Mordred the tyrant.
Arthur and her crew found out the location of Mordred’s barracks so they made a plan to sneak in at midnight...
Arthur: Phew, we’ve finally made it to Mordred’s barracks. What a rocky road!
Lancelot: Stop complaining, iron board. Or why don’t you just swagger in through the main entrance!
Arthur: Just stop talking nonsense, Lancelot!
Tristan: Stop it! Indeed, the two paths I’ve chosen are extremely difficult but they keep us unnoticed and minimise the risk. Galahad and Merlin should have arrived at the barracks on the other side according to my instruction on the map.
Tristan: Let’s search for the Star Stone as soon as possible and meet them.
The three of them took action promptly. Yet, they couldn’t find the Star Stones, instead they found something abnormal——a hundred pieces of armor piled up in a huge armory. The armor was dark as ink, brimming with a strong yet ominous aura. One could tell it was not normal by just one glance.
As the three were staring at the armor then looked at each other, flummoxed, Galahad and Merlin came.
Galahad: You guys are here. We couldn't find a clue of the Star Stone. How about you guys?
Arthur: We didn’t either but we found these piles of weird armor.
Arthur pointed at the stacks of armor inside. Pressing Arthur’s shoulder, Merlin looked closer then her beautiful eyes squinted.
Merlin: Dark metal is created with the forbidden black magic. People can get great power by wearing armor made of dark metal, but it comes with a price: they will gradually become ruthless and eventually lose humanity.
Galahad picked up a piece of armor and looked at it intensively. Suddenly, her eyes were wide open as if she found something.
Tristan: Galahad, what’s wrong? Your face looks bad.
Galahad: The patterns on the metal… They’re my father’s mark...No...No way!
Galahad shook her head unbelievably and dashed out under the befuddled eyes of her friends.
Merlin: Dark metal isn't a common thing that can be created easily unless with the help of the most skilled bladesmith… I’m afraid only Galahad’s father is competent at doing that. Let’s give her some time to calm down.
Tristan: If Galahad’s father really made these suits of armor, she must be devastated. But I’ve heard her talking about her parents. They are all kind people. I believe that there should be other reasons.
All of them left Mordred’s barracks. On their way back, Tristan had been pondering that he almost went the wrong way.
Arthur: Tristan, you never make mistakes when you’re holding a map. What’s wrong?
Tristan: Sorry. I was thinking how to cope with dark metal. If we let Prince Mordred’s underlings keep abusing this horrible power, who knows how many people are gonna suffer.
Merlin: It is said that the key to the dark metal is its vile core which can manipulate the person that wears the dark metal. Once the vile core is destroyed, the black magic will no longer be effective.
Merlin: But with the fact that Arthur can’t even unsheathe the Excalibur, it’d be impossible. So collecting all the Star Stones should be our first priority at the moment.
Guinevere: But now we have no clue… Sigh, if only we have the holy grail’s power!
Tristan: The holy grail? I thought it was only a legend.
Guinevere: No. It is real. Back then when powerful monsters tried to invade the kingdom, King Uther won, all thanks to the blessing of the holy grail’s follower. Since then, there has been a rumor that the royalty will ask for the help of the holy grail whenever they are going through a crisis.
Merlin: But the map that marked the location of the holy grail had been burnt down in a coup a decade ago. Ever since then, lots of people tried to track the holy grail down over the years but all of them failed.
Tristan: “No one has ever found the holy grail? No, I can find the holy grail as long as it still exists!”
Back at the hotel, Tristan locked himself in the room and didn’t come out until midnight. He went to another door and knocked hastily.
Tristan: Hey! Open the door!
Merlin: Tristan, interrupting my beauty sleep is a serious crime——
Tristan: Stop talking crap! Look! This is the map I drew after looking through all the information. The holy grail should be in this ancient Asgard!
Arthur: Th-that’s amazing… How did you do that?
Tristan: Everything that has existed leaves a trace. So I flipped through thousands of pages of records, compared the ancient atlas and studied the tracks of the royal family. Finally, I was able to find out the location of the Holy Grail.
Merlin: With this map, we might actually find the holy grail and the Star Stone to break through the current predicament!
The next day, as they arrived at an area near Asgard, they saw a towering stone wall standing around it. After walking past a squat tower and taking crisscross stairs, they found themselves back to the starting point.
Tristan: Looks like the whole Asgard is a giant maze.
Arthur: Then what should we do now?
Tristan: Everyone takes some rest. We will only waste our stamina if we keep moving on.
Tristan found a branch and thrust it into the ground. The branch cast a shadow in sunlight. After a while, he called out everyone as he observed the change of shadow and led them trotting through various towers and corners, holding his head up high.
Tristan: Lancelot and Gawain, can you guys make a hole in this wall? The temple should be behind it.
Gawain: We seem to have not gone far.
Tristan: The maze misleads people but the sun never lies. Based on the map, the temple should be in the far west of Asgard and the entrance of the maze was already close to the west. I went west as the movement of the sun attested my thought just now.
Arthur: Alright! We all believe in Tristan!
Lancelot and Gawain soon broke the stone wall. Through the hole, they saw the temple standing not far away.
Now we can ask for the legendary saint’s help.
Arthur: Tristan, you've done an excellent job! The credit is all yours!
Lancelot: Iron board! Don’t gloat too soon...
As Lancelot pointed with his finger, everyone looked at Merlin, who was reaching her hand towards the temple sombrely——sizzle! Several faint rays of light flashed and blocked Merlin’s hand.
Merlin: It’s an enchantment. The temple is covered with magic enchantment...
