Endor remained unaccustomed to her new life. Since escaping from within the Demon troops, she had began travelling between the different troops without regard for the apprehensions of others. Everytime she was suspected, she would leave and journey onto other battlefields in her wandering rove.
On this particular day, she had come to a grassland covered with the dead. Upon seeing the spirits of the deceased wandering and wailing, she walked onto the hill where she began to pray for the perished.
Dark Mage Endor: I would simply discard your corpse，
Dark Mage Endor: Because no matter where you are, your soul would remain tranquil.
Dark Mage Endor: I would take in your anxiety, fear, and all concerns.
Dark Mage Endor: If you retain your inherent goodness,
Dark Mage Endor: your soul would be passed down under the laws......
Earl Nathaniel: Have you heard of such a religion?
The general on the side asked a soldier who responded with a shaking of his head. As the general wanted to approach, ghostly lights arose all around the priestess. Countless spirits rushed out from the bodies——
Earl Nathaniel: Pull back, priestess!
Dark Mage Endor: No, my goal is to pacify them...
Earl Nathaniel: Darn it!
Later on, the priest was questioned by many and if it was not for the joint effort of General Nathaniel and Duncan, it was likely that she would have been treated as a cult member and harmed by the Saintly soldiers. Despite criticism, the general kept her within his forces......
Endor would always read different elegiac address in the deceased’s funerary services.
Dark Archmage Endor: For those who are praised and venerated;
Dark Archmage Endor: for those who are missed or forgotten......
Dark Archmage Endor: bestowed upon each casualty,
Dark Archmage Endor: Everything is brief.
Dark Archmage Endor: You lived within a tiny corner of the body
Dark Archmage Endor: and was unable to harmoniously coexist with the world......
At the beginning, the soldiers remained suspicious. They thought the unorthodox Earl had finally gone mad and had been converted to a strange cult.
However, as time went on, Endor’ s support for the soldiers on the frontline through the use of dark elements won their acceptance despite appearing to enjoy the worship of the dead. Furthermore, since even the Druid on the team did not object, the soldiers disapproved of Endor no more. After the worship, the Druid asked Endor:
Druid Duncan: You say they were unable to harmoniously coexist with the world,
Druid Duncan: but don’t all life come from nature?
Dark Archmage Endor: If that is the case, why are the spirits of the deceased unable to get tranquility?
Dark Archmage Endor: The war makes it impossible for them to rest in peace......
Endor liked spending time with him even more than speaking with the spirits of the deceased. During their conversations, the Druid began describing the principles of the earth. Endor reciprocated with words spoken by the dead. To the Druid’s demonstration of earth’s power through the creation of great winds, Endor gave a smile and also channeled the power of the dark elements —
Dark Archmage Endor: Look, like this——
Earl Nathaniel: No, Endor. Thank you, but it would not be necessary this time.
After a certain battle, Nathaniel retrieved the broken body of his lieutenant and gave me a somber funeral. Endor was bemused and could not understand why Nathaniel would do something so pointless. She asked Sean, who happened to be standing beside her, but his only response was that the deceased was a warrior worthy of respect. Endor had wanted to ask in more detail, but was halted by Duncan.
Druid Duncan: We offer prayer in this manner as we can’t connect with the world of the dead.
Dark Archmage Endor: Prayer?
Druid Duncan: A wish that all spirits of the deceased would find a safe refuge.
They silently mourned the death of the lieutenant. It was only then that Endor realized how unique she was as she could hear the words spoken by the spirits of the deceased since she was young whereas others could only see the corpse.
Death has created a barrier between the spirits and those still alive. To show their respect, those living can only treat the bodies with reverence. Endor turned to leave, climbing up the mountain with queries for the spirits of the deceased. They told her that the blessed spirits were flying towards Holylight city.
When Endor returned to her companions, she was asked by Molly whether she had discovered anything. Astounded by what Endor heard from the spirits, Molly stared at the spot where Endor was looking but could not see anything. She asked:
Aqua Sorceress Molly: The soldiers keep saying that they are ‘blessed by the glorious light’......
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Is that true?
Endor only shook her hand in response. By her side, the spirits of the deceased wailed their accusations; they complained of abandonment, betrayal and, loss of their homes. From those who died hundreds to those who died thousands of years ago, these spirits of the deceased were those who had not been blessed and was no longer able to connect with anything......Endor could finally understand the reason behind their sorrow.
Dark Archmage Endor: ‘Don’t cry. I will bring you home.’
Long ago, Endor the Necromancer had made a pact with the young Druid, delicate sorceress, the reckless swordsman, and the arrogant Earl, that they would spend their whole lives fighting chaos, even if achieving this goal meant that they themselves would join the ranks of the spirits of the deceased. Although armed conflict eventually arise within them, their aspiration had never changed.
At the Ocean of Gates, Duncan and Endor had a final conversation. While there was a mutual comprehension, the conclusion they each reached diverged. Endor wanted to open the seal and return the spirits of the deceased to heaven. However, Duncan wanted to strengthen the seal and prevent the power of the runestones from falling into Demons’ hands, leading to further harm upon the earth......
Necromancer Endor: We all understand; this is an endless endeavor.
Lord of Forest Duncan: The earth is perpetual, just as the soul is everlasting.
Necromancer Endor: Nature procreates through new life, and souls continue through death.
Lord of Forest Duncan: We are only healers whose job it is to alleviate the pain in nature.
Necromancer Endor: We are only oblations whose job it is to comfort the wailing by the souls.
Lord of Forest Duncan: What should we do? Neither of us believes the other is wrong.
Necromancer Endor: Let the runestones decide for us.
Lord of Forest Duncan: For Mother Nature and our pact.
Necromancer Endor: For the souls of the deceased and our pact.
Lord of Forest Duncan: For Mother Nature and our pact.
Endor did not have the heart to exhaust the spirits of the deceased in exchange for power. Thus, she was eventually overwhelmed by the power of the Earth. In defeat, Endor fell into the arms of the dark elements to reside with its power. Yet, in this strange land of illusions projected by the power of the elements, the past would be replayed and sometimes, there are alternative results......
???: ‘Little spirit of the deceased who bears the weight of the body, awaken!’
Solace Endor: ?
Spirit of the Deceased: ‘Quick! Take in my tears of pain!’
Dark Mage Endor: ‘No, I cannot —’
Wraith: ‘Death? No, my great ambition —’
Dark Archmage Endor: ‘Calm down! I will take in your uncertain —’
Deathwhisperer Endor: Spirits of the deceased......These memories......
Deathwhisperer Endor: What is this......
Michael - Lucifer: ‘This is still not the time.’
After countless battles, the spirits of the deceased have given everything to Endor to bear on their behalf; through this, they used the power from the dark elements to show Endor a non-existent future:
She defeated Duncan and the angels, and allowed the spirits of the deceased access to their great desire of heaven. Yet, the return of these spirits upset the plans laid out by some of the Gods. They changed the balance among the different godly factions and Endor herself was pulled into the internal conflict. She escaped only through help provided by the spirits of the deceased.
However, Endor refused to give up; she continued to find lost ancient spirits of the deceased and snuck them into heaven. Subsequently, the Gods deemed her a criminal and sought her arrest. People who were ignorant of the context were deployed to capture Endor.
Living a life on the run, Endor’s life diverged greatly from what she was, even to the extent of joining sides with the Demons. Endor was even used by evil deity in the Dark Cove and she was caught in hostilities with the Gods......
Endor understood that the overwhelming confusion had led the other “her” astray and that “she” might still be able to change in the future, but Endor had lost interest in illusionary land. Closing her eyes, she terminated this unreal future.
Deathwhisperer Endor: There is no need for me to watch this since none of this is real.
Deathwhisperer Endor: Furthermore, that does not appear any better than the present.
Deathwhisperer Endor: Summoner, you know that I did all of this to end the suffering.
Deathwhisperer Endor: To release the spirits of the deceased from humanity...
Deathwhisperer Endor: To end my harassment by the spirits... ...
Deathwhisperer Endor: If another ending means a more exhaustive dream repeated daily,
Deathwhisperer Endor: Then, I am already living in bliss——
Deathwhisperer Endor: at least I can still prevent events I do not want to see from happening.
Deathwhisperer Endor: Summoner, allow me to continue my sleep.
Deathwhisperer Endor: Allow me to deploy even greater powers when summoned.
Deathwhisperer Endor: To calm all chaos, for the spirits of the deceased and our pact.
