On the boundless fields of war, Sean stood at his father’s side. He watched as his father sidestepped a stab, and reciprocated with a slash on the enemy soldier’s throat. The soldier’s weapon clanged to the floor as his hands leapt to his throat and his cries of pain was muffled by the rush of blood. This forced Sean’s father to slash the soldier a final time killing him.
Father: If you want someone to blame, blame my son!
Father: I would have given you a quick death if I had the money to repair my sword!
Sean’s father kicked the soldier’ s corpse to the side. The tall figure turned back towards Sean and handed over his bloodshed weapon.
Father: Come, pick up the sword! Let it become a part of your body!
As Sean reached out to take the weapon, his father seemed to age right before his eyes. A smile remained on his face as he whispered something softly, but then, he was impaled from behind by a long blade.
The killer threw his father’s body to the side and raised his weapon. Blood dripped off the edge of the murderer’s weapon but it was immediately evaporated by the heat radiating from his body. The killer’s stout body seemed to emanate with a strength that pressed upon Sean, and all Sean could do was to stare into the man’s fiery red eyes while remaining rooted to the ground——
Blazing Swordsman Sean: !
Snapping awake from his dream, Sean had drawn his dagger without thinking. There was a dead silence in the tent - no one else was yet awake. It was still night, and there was still time before he had to wake for his meeting. Yet, Sean no longer wanted to sleeep, and he crawled up and silently put on his armor.
Sean had sought his foe incessantly. Everytime he closed his eyes, his mind would return to the view of his father being pierced by the Demon’s long blade. In order to release himself from his hatred, Sean battles until his fatigue broke him before he would sleep in preparation for battles the next day.
‘What I need are not soldiers who knows simply to kill! What is it that you fight for?’ The nobleman leading the army had always berated him in such a fashion, and every time, Sean wanted to retort that he also did not need a meddlesome general. However, Sean simply bit his tongue since there were no other forces that would accept him.
Sean walked up to the tree behind the encampment where Molly was already awaiting his arrival. She handed him the broadsword which was now repaired.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Sean, the sword has been repaired.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: The fire elements will now heed this weapon.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: However, you must be the one to control the energy within.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: You must conjure enough fire elements to realize the sword’s potential.
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Argh, minions! They always show up in large groups.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Sean, we have to pull back!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Molly! Don’t go that way!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Darn! We are surrounded!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: We must defeat them in one swoop; break through their ranks!
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Yeah!
In the evening, the group sat around the campfire - resting to ward off fatigue. Molly bandaged the swordsman next to the flames while chastising him for his recklessness. Druid was still churning up herbs at the grinder. The Earl, commander of the troops, was personally polishing his own armor. The beguine wrapped himself in his robes and was likely also resting. The young Earl, asked with a sigh, hand on a damaged portion of the amor——
Earl Nathaniel: What will this war bring to us......
Druid Duncan: These are things your enemies will not think about，your lordship.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: In that case, what would they think about?
Dark Archmage Endor: I would think of them as being absolutely senseless.
Druid Duncan: ......
Earl Nathaniel: ......
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Ow——be gentle! The wound is re-opening!
Aqua Sorceress Molly: You deserve it! Who told you to be reckless!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: It was actually——
Druid Duncan: Come，Sean; drink this......
Blazing Swordsman Sean: This remedy tastes funny......
Afterwards, the soldiers were asleep, and Molly rested quietly alongside her companions. The silence around the group was deafening. Their mood was gloomy as the day’s battle remained in their thoughts.
Molly looked at the heavily bandaged bodies in front of her, and in her heart was a desire for the end of war. She suddenly wanted to lean onto the scarred back and she only resisted the urge by stiffening her body. Yet, the warrior leaned backwards into her arms. His body warmth rested upon Molly’s and his head rested on her shoulder. The warrior was in deep slumber signaling the effects of the Druid’s remedy.
The group around the fire were not paying attention to the pair as Molly gently kissed the warrior’s cheek. His body warmth spread throughout Molly’s body through her lips; yet, sorrow emerged. Her thoughts had gone to the ceaseless war that Sean would be forced to fight in upon awakening tomorrow.
After passing through the fifth seal, Sean reached the end of the stairs with his companions by his side. Yet, it was there they saw the Valkyrie blocking the door; to pass through, they must defeat her.
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: ‘Warriors accepted by Odin! Prove yourselves to me!’
Sword in hand, Nathaniel advanced, but was forced back by the sudden surge of dark elements. With a swing of her scythe, the Valkyrie knocked Duncan’s spear out of his hand. As the spirits of the deceased was in abject horror of the Taker of Souls and her reputation, the most Endor could do was to defend herself through her power of elements.
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: ‘Unlike Idun, I will not be gentle!’
With a wave of her hand, Valkyrie’ s soul-reaping power slammed itself into Molly. Sean immediately stabbed out with his sword but Valkyrie dodged, unfazed. However, it did at least compel her to rescind her power. Sean, took advantage of this to get close, believing it would prevent another scythe strike. Yet, Valkyrie unleashed the elemental scythe and Sean had to summon dragonfire simply to withstand it.
Inferno Swordsman Sean: Hey all of you need to go through now! Don’t get entangled here with her!
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: ‘Are you confident you can defeat me, warrior?’
A wave from Valkyrie’s weapon knocked Sean to the side; blade of fire and the long-bladed weapon clashed back and forth. Taking advantage of the Valkyrie’s distance, Nathaniel rushed to the door and opened it. The Valkyrie, being distracted, was unable to prevent this; Endor and Duncan also ran through the door and only Molly was still hesitating.
Marquess Nathaniel: Come here! Quickly! If we are all here, Sean cannot utilize his dragonfire.
Aqua Elementalist Molly: But ——
Inferno Swordsman Sean: Open the door for me!
Nathaniel pulled Molly with him towards the door. Sean, conjured his fire elements and the flames around him, flared even greater with flames, engulfing the entire stairway as well as Sean and Valkyrie.
Inferno Swordsman Sean: I am my father’s son; I cannot ignore the challenges placed before me!
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: Ignite your soul! Show me your blazing inferno.
Dragon Rider Sean: Fighting you would me my honor.
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: Your strength......This nostalgia-inducing color......
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: There is only one ending for those who possess this fire......
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: Come, let me guide you——
Previously, Sean’s soul had already merged with the fire elements even before the victor was determined; yet, the runestones showed Sean an alternative future in an illusion ——
Sean defeated the Valkyrie, and had convinced Endor and Nathaniel with the help of Molly and Duncan. They contributed their strength to enhance the seal on the tower and stopped the Demons’ scheme.
Having lost half of their strength, the five scattered: Duncan returned to the forest to teach the younger generations; Nathaniel continued to lead the army in combat; Molly returned to the college where she stays on the campus along with Sean. He enjoyed a brief peace of calm, but could not resist the urge to return to the army.
Initially, the pair had kept in touch through letter. Yet later, Sean went into a chaotic battlefield where even the mere delivery of letters was difficult. Despite insisting upon writing letters, Sean would silently throw his incompleted bloodied letters into the fire when he fetched them out from his armor after each battle; he would begin writing anew by the campfire.
In the process, he would intermittently pause as in lamentation of the past, following asleep after wallowing in nostalgia... The next day, the letter would again be drenched in blood after the battle; thus, in the post-battle night, it will be reduced to ashes by flames again.
Sean watched the illusion uninterruptedly, seeing his death on the battlefield in the protection of others. His comrades would send out the letter kept on his body. The bloodstained letter would mingle with the letter of many other soldiers. Yet, when Molly received this letter, she would spot the circular burn marks and his final words - her tears unable to remove the stain of blood.
Dragon Rider Sean: Can I keep watching this while time races by, and actually see the future?
The illusion ended at Sean’s question; he smugly stated:
Dragon Rider Sean: I have not been confused for a long time!
Sean noticed his fiery red eyes — ^ Achilles lifted his weapon. Blood dripped off the edge of the weapon but it was immediately evaporated by the heat radiating from his body. The killer’s stout body seemed to emanate with a strength that pressed upon Sean. Sean stood in front of him and stared into his eyes, unwilling to show any sign of weakness —
After a myriad of battles, Sean and the power of dragonfire had fused. It brought Sean into a virtual land to test his resolve. In this illusive battlefield, enemies from his past reappeared before Sean’s eyes.
Dragon Rider Sean: This is unexpected... Runestones forged by ancient humanity!
Dragon Rider Sean: Are you worried that I have not let this go?
Dragon Rider Sean: But there is a silver lining...
Dragon Rider Sean: I would like to test my skill anyway; I accept this surprise!
Dragon Rider Sean: I’m no longer obsessed with vengeance for my father.
Dragon Rider Sean: Never having found him is a minor disappointment, but I have no regrets.
Dragon Rider Sean: If any details had been different, I might not have met everyone.
Dragon Rider Sean: Furthermore, as father said, ‘Do not get overly-infatuated with what you can see.’
Dragon Rider Sean: If you have time to obsess over a dead end, why not do something useful.
Dragon Rider Sean: Although my companions and I are separated in our own Runestones,
Dragon Rider Sean: But we all know that each are by our side, and striving for the same goal......
Dragon Rider Sean: Furthermore, we have even found older shards among the runestones.
Dragon Rider Sean: They told me that I have not only inherited my father’s sword,
Dragon Rider Sean: but also the vows of an ancient warrior.
Dragon Rider Sean: ‘I will be an eternal flame,’
Dragon Rider Sean: ‘with the courage as impregnable as a sword, which would never wear out.’
Dragon Rider Sean: I would think I have kept my word......
Dragon Rider Sean: And now, it is time to fulfill another promise，
Dragon Rider Sean: Summoners, let’s advance in the name of ending the war!
