Instructor of Magic: It’s a success! I have finally activated the power within the runestones.
Instructor of Magic: But the extent to it’s done seems insufficient...
Instructor of Magic: This is theoretically correct, but I need more data.
Celebrating within the research laboratory, the Sorcerer waved his wand in ecstasy nearly destroying the equipment for his experiments. Calming down, he wrote a radiating algorithm in the air with his wand. The Sorcerer pointed his wand out the window, and noises caused by his spells descended onto the campus from the peak of the the Sorcerer's tower.
Instructor of Magic: Molly, come to the research lab now— —
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Why is this happening again......
Alice the Little Witch: The instructor needs an assistant again.
Lilith the Little Witch: He would always use us as cheap labor.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Just leave the issue be; I will be back soon.
Alice the Little Witch: Molly, the crystal ball said you would be gone for a long time——
Aqua Sorceress Molly: I won’t.
Antonia the Little Witch: Molly, if you are busy, you are busy. We will save the cake for you.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Thanks, Antonia.
Lilith the Little Witch: Whose cake is it anyway?
Aqua Sorceress Molly: ......
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Don’t tell the instructor.
Instructor of Magic: Molly, I have assembled the dispersed runestones.
Instructor of Magic: To activate the power concealed within the runestone......
Instructor of Magic: you must dissolve a sufficient number of runestones.
Instructor of Magic: Remember the theories you have learnt, and don’t disappoint me!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Argh, minions! They always show up in large groups.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Sean, we have to pull back!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Molly! Don’t go that way!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Darn! We are surrounded!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: We must wipe them out at once; break through their ranks!
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Yeah!
In the evening, the group sat around the campfire - resting to ward off fatigue. Beside the flames, Molly bandaged the swordsman’s wounds while chastising his recklessness. The Druid was still pulverizing herbs with the grinder. The Earl, commander of the troops, was personally polishing his own armor. The beguine wrapped herself in her robes and was likely also resting. The young Earl, asked with a sigh, hand on a damaged portion of the amor——
Earl Nathaniel: What will this war bring to us......
Druid Duncan: These are things your enemies will not think about，your lordship.
Aqua Sorceress Molly: Then what would they think about?
Dark Archmage Endor: I would think of them as being absolutely senseless.
Druid Duncan: ......
Earl Nathaniel: ......
Blazing Swordsman Sean: Ow——be gentle! The wound is re-opening!
Aqua Sorceress Molly: You deserve it! Who told you to be reckless!
Blazing Swordsman Sean: It was actually——
Druid Duncan: Come，Sean; drink this......
Blazing Swordsman Sean: This remedy tastes funny......
A little later, the soldiers were all asleep. Molly and her companions were also resting quietly beside the fire. The silence around the group was deafening and their mood gloomy as the day’s battle remained in their thoughts. Molly looked at the heavily bandaged body in front of her, and in her heart was sat a desire for the war’ s end. She suddenly wanted to lean onto the scarred back in front of her and it was only an intentional stiffening of her body did she resist the urge.
Yet, the warrior leaned backwards into her arms. His warm body reclined upon Molly’s and his head rested on her shoulder. The effects of the Druid’s remedy had taken effect and the warrior was in a deep slumber. The group around the fire were not paying attention to the pair as Molly gently kissed the warrior’s cheek. The warmth from his body warmth flowed through her Molly into her body where it spread.
However, sorrow emerged. Her thoughts had gone to the ceaseless war that Sean would be forced back into upon awakening tomorrow.
Molly never forgot her pact with Sean, the young Druid, the reticent beguine, and the the young Earl she made on that traumatic battlefield; they would do anything possible cease the sacrifices and the wars.
Standing before the Ocean of Gates, Nathaniel decided to open the seal and request the Gods’ involvement into the wars. Yet, Molly felt this would only increase the chaos within the war, leading to more sacrifice. As they pointed their weapons towards each other, Nathaniel read out their old promise, and fought for the fate of the seal......
Aqua Elementalist Molly: I cannot accept this! How can you expand the war?
Aqua Elementalist Molly: Wouldn’t you simply bring more sacrifice if you open the source of chaos!
Marquess Nathaniel: The peace we bring must be lasting, and not temporary!
Aqua Elementalist Molly: You cannot decide this on their behalf!
Marquess Nathaniel: I can! As long as you do not get in my way, we can——
Aqua Elementalist Molly: If I could have stopped someone, it would first be that idiotic Sean!
Marquess Nathaniel: That is right! It was him who got us here, standing before the Gates;
Marquess Nathaniel: and so, it is more important that I do not render his sacrifice vain.
Aqua Elementalist Molly: I will not allow this to happen!
Aqua Elementalist Molly: You think your actions are just.
Aqua Elementalist Molly: But in reality, you’ve never understood the wishes of those around you!
Marquess Nathaniel: Molly, have you forgotten? All of this is done for peace and our pact!
In the past, Molly and her companions resided within their own elements and awaited those who summoned the strength of the runestones. But within the fantasy of amelioration and surrounded by the projections of the runestones' power, repeating the past could perhaps lead to a different ending......
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: You are insisting upon taking him?
Valkyrie, Taker of Souls: Then first, you must defeat me!
After myriad summonings, Molly had merged with the power of the water elements, which showed her a fictitious future——
Even if she had defeated the Valkyrie alongside Sean, they would still have been trapped in a ceaseless war. With help from Sean and Duncan, Molly convinced Endor and Nathaniel to contribute their strength to enhancing the seal on the tower and stopped the Demons’ scheme.
Having lost most of their strength, the five scattered: Duncan returned to the forest to teach the younger generations; Nathaniel continued to lead the army in combat; Molly returned to the college and upon her invitation; Sean stays on the campus with her, but the time he stayed was short before returning to the army. Molly had wanted to go after him, but could not leave her peers at the college. Separated, the pair could only communicate through letters.
Molly and Sean grew apart in the ceaseless war between Gods and Demons. While they still missed each other, their lives have connections for others as well. Status and duty divides the lovers. War incessantly take friends away from Molly; one name after another were carved onto headstones. The chaos of wars churned memories into shards of regret. Molly could take no more; closing her eyes, she stopped the perpetual future.
Molly, still weeping, asked with a smile:
Aqua Elementalist Molly: Power built by the secret savant could only show despair?
Aqua Elementalist Molly: But now, I have learnt resolve!
Aqua Elementalist Molly: We reside within the runestones.
Aqua Elementalist Molly: Not only do we test the climbers of the tower, but also bless them...
Aqua Elementalist Molly: They would be able to change everything!
Aqua Elementalist Molly: Right, summoner? I know you can do it.
Aqua Elementalist Molly: You can end the war and become the hope of humanity!
Aqua Elementalist Molly: Do not let our sacrifice be in vain; summon and use my power!
