Izanami, Tsukuyomi and Kagutsuchi believed that the book of black magic contained the magic that saves lives.
Therefore, they alienated Izanagi and the rest. At first, they had stayed at an abandoned temple. Later on, Izanami led them to an old village where they practiced black magic.
Tsukuyomi closed her eyes to feel the spiritual energy. All she felt was the energy flow, but didn’t notice that she was wrapped in the sinister aura exuding from herself...
Tsukuyomi: “Children’s laughter?”
As Tsukuyomi heard children’s laughter, she headed towards the sound source, which led her to the only light among the darkness——five people were sitting around a tea table in a living room.
Tsukuyomi: “Why does this place...look so similar to my home…”
Walking closer, Tsukuyomi discovered that this was exactly her home.
The people sitting around were her parents, Amaterasu, Susanoo and someone familiar who turned the back at her. All of them were smiling happily.
This was the good time that Tsukuyomi longed for but had long gone. As she reached her beloved family, the familiar one slowly turned around as if she sensed her presence——another Tsukuyomi!
Tsukuyomi: How...How come?
Tsukuyomi: How pathetic are you.
Tsukuyomi: It’s not like that...This is my family. I’m the one who belongs here!
Tsukuyomi spent hard effords to wake up from the illusion, trembling and gasping. As Izanami and Kagutsuchi were still practicing, she walked out of the abandoned village.
Mother: Alright alright. One daifuku for each of you.
Father: Sigh. You’re spoiling the kids.
Tsukuyomi: “If dad and mom were still alive, our family would be happy just like they do...No. We’d be even happier…”
The joy of that family reminded Tsukuyomi of the good old days when her parents were still alive. Back then, she was the jewel of the family, and her family used to be soaked in a joyful ambience.
Yet an accident had taken her parents away for good, as well as the joy in her life. And now even Amaterasu and Susanoo were not on her side...
Tsukuyomi tailed the family without realizing so. She saw her parents on them, and she just couldn’t be more delighted to be indulged in her own fantasy——a happy and complete home.
Tsukuyomi had been tailing them all the way from the bustling street to the quiet alley. She stuck around even when the family had arrived home.
Peeping through the window, she saw the father take the youngest son to shower, while the mother was combing her daughters.
In Tsukuyomi’s eyes, it was her mother combing Amaterasu and her, while her father dragged Susanoo to shower.
Caught deep in the illusion, Tsukuyomi reached over, trying to touch the happiness that had been gone for long...
Tsukuyomi came across with a loving family, who reminded her of the good old days. While she was peeping at the family, she started feeling sleepy. Then she fell asleep unintentionally...
A familiar and soft voice spoke to Tsukuyomi. Awaking with a start, it was her mother calling her name!
As she looked around, not only her mother but her father was reading next to her. Only Amaterasu and Susanoo were missing.
Tsukuyomi: Where am I…?
Mother: You sleepy head. It’s time to wake up. You got my legs numbed...
As Tsukuyomi hugged her mother tight, she began to think that maybe her parents’ death was just a dream, and she finally woke up from that horrible nightmare.
Tsukuyomi: Great you’re here! Mom, I just had a terrible nightmare.
Tsukuyomi: Yes...I lost you and dad in that dream, and our life became miserable...I resurrected you two but Amaterasu destroyed you...
Mother: Destroy? Like this?
Looking up, Tsukuyomi saw Susanoo cut off her parent’s limbs. Then Amaterasu stuck fulus on their heads.
“Amaterasu”: They’re not mom and dad, and they shouldn’t exist!
Tsukuyomi: Dad! Mom!
Tsukuyomi gasped as she returned from the dream to reality.
The joy she had experienced in the dream amplified her solitude, and the laughter inside the house ached her like blades piercing into her heart.
Tsukuyomi: “As long as I’m hugged by my family, I’ll——”
Getting back on her feet, Tsukuyomi tidied up herself and went into the house with five dolls...Before long, all five of them were controlled by the marionette magic, who knelt on the ground quietly.
Tsukuyomi, sitting between the parents, controlled the arms of two dolls. Meanwhile, the parents moved accordingly, holding Tsukuyomi into their arms.
Tsukuyomi puppeteered the parents from another family to caress herself, playing them like her own family.
Letting go of the parents’ “embrace”, she sat before the table by herself and turned to the mother with a smile.
Tsukuyomi: Mom, I’m hungry. Can you peel an orange for me?
Tsukuyomi controlled the doll and the mother moved accordingly. She puppeteered the mother to sit opposite her.
Then she arranged the father to sit next to the mother, and the two daughters sat at both sides respectively. At last, she made the youngest brother sit next to her.
Tsukuyomi: Hmm, the orange is so sweet! Thanks mom.
Tsukuyomi: Dad, take a bite. Isn’t it sweet?
Tsukuyomi: Since you take care of me everyday, I’ll let you have one, Amaterasu.
Tsukuyomi: Hehe. Susanoo, I know you want one, but I’m not giving it to you because mom peeled it for me.
Tsukuyomi: Mom, dad, I finished the whole orange! Am I a good girl?
Tsukuyomi controlled the dolls, puppeteering the parents to rub her head. This made her feel like she had gone back to the time before her parents’ death and the conflict with Amaterasu and Susanoo.
A sob interrupted Tsukuyomi’s good time. The family wasn’t supposed to display any emotions, but the youngest brother was crying right now.
Tsukuyomi: Why are you crying? You’re displeasing mom and dad. You’re such a bad boy.
At this moment, the daughters started crying too, turning Tsukuyomi’s joy into resentment.
Tsukuyomi: You’re not my family!
As Tsukuyomi was done speaking, she left promptly, going back to the abandoned village...
