- Shroy: Excuse me, please make way... cough, cough!
- Shroy: “Oh no, the smoke is getting thicker and thicker. I have to speed up.”
Shroy wanted to go back, but the crowd coming in the opposite direction made it extremely difficult. It took him a while to return to the stage. He could only see the miscellaneous items that the crowds had left on the ground. The empty square now looked particularly forlorn.
- Shroy: Hey! Is anyone here? Answer me if there is!
However, silence reigned in the square, with Shroy's breath being the only audible sound. He called again; still, only his own voice echoed in the square.
- Shroy: Cough!
- Shroy: “Maybe he has been rescued by the police. I should probably head back, or I will choke on the smoke—”
- ???: Boohoo...
Just when Shroy was leaving, the faint cry came into his ears again, so he quickly listened with bated breath.
- Shroy: “In the bushes over there!”
Covering his nose, Shroy ran over and saw a boy lying among the bushes. The boy’s legs were pinned down by the decorative colored balls that he couldn’t move…
- Boy: Oh... It hurts...
- Shroy: Don’t be scared. I’ll help you—Lie down!
Ominous iridescent lights swept across the sky and fell to the ground next to Shroy, producing loud explosions and lung-burning heat. It looked as if the sky and earth could be shattered the next moment.
Shroy wanted to wait for everything to subside, but the impact shook the trees nearby, one of which was about to fall on the boy.
- Shroy: Tut! Why am I so unlucky today! ?
Uttering curses, nonetheless, Shroy took immediate action to protect the boy with his own body while closing his eyes and anticipating the excruciating pain, but—
- Shroy: “Hmm? Why didn't it hurt?”
Shroy opened his eyes and saw that the big tree that was just about to collapse was split in two and fell on both sides. In front of the broken tree stood a young girl who was holding a big sword.
Her upright standing posture had an ineffable beauty, as if she was born with glory. Shroy was so captivated that he was unable to think, until the girl turned around—
- Ourea: Why haven't you taken refuge... Ah! Yo-yo-you are the rude guy I met this morning! Is it that... you fell in love with me at first sight, so you keep trailing behind me!?
- Shroy: “...My eyes must have been glued by clam meat. Can’t believe that I almost find this idiot attractive!”
- Shroy: Don't overthink. I'm just here to save this kid!
- Ourea: What did you just say—
- ???: Ourea, time is running out. Please put your personal grievances aside first.
- Ourea: Deputy Representative Copeland... Sorry, I’ve lost my cool.
- Copeland: Can you let me check on the child?
- Shroy: “Copeland... the deputy representative of the Beast clan. He looks very different from other Beasts... He has an air of elegance.”
Shroy stepped aside, and Copeland squatted down to check.
- Copeland: Alright, his bones were not hurt. He should be fine.
Copeland channeled his energy. His vine-wrapped right hand removed the color balls that was holding down the boy. Shroy immediately carried the boy in his arms.
- Copeland: Let's leave now.
- Ourea: Yes, sir.
Ourea turned her head and glanced at Shroy. Her respectful gaze had been replaced by a disdainful one brazenly. This, however, did not upset Shroy at all; he found it rather interesting.
- Shroy: “It's been a long time since I last saw such blatant disgust in someone’s eyes; this idiot is probably the only one who can show it with such intensity.”
- Ourea: Hey you, follow us and don’t go astray. I won’t be responsible for your death.
- Shroy: What a surprise, I thought you’d leave me here alone.
- Ourea: Humph! I do hate you, but as a summoner, I have the obligation to protect you... Enough talking. Let’s get out of here now.
Ourea took the lead with a giant sword in her hand. The impact had torn down trees and many other things, but Ourea managed to remove them very efficiently, making their journey rather smooth. In no time, the business district is right ahead of them.
Shroy sped up in excitement, but Ourea, the leader, braked so abruptly that he almost bumped into her back.
- Shroy: Why did you suddenly—
- Ourea: Retreat!
Fllowing Ourea’s words, they saw the iridescent lights—with even greater power—blasting violently from the sky, all the way to them.
- Ourea: Looks like we can't avoid it...then come at me!
Ourea held the card case around her waist and closed her eyes. The elements assembled in resonance and turned into magical power which surrounded her with dazzling lights before they finally fell back into the case. The empty cards were now glowing crimson.
- Ourea: Heroic spirits from the past, unfold the shield for me!
雪萊幻想過無數次召喚師喚出英靈的景象,當親眼所見,還是比想像中要耀目華麗。
A figure, which was taller than Ourea by half, emerged from the card case—it was Pompeii, the first Machina born in the past. He spread the metal wing-blade behind him. As the flame burned, a huge elemental shield was formed to withstand the attack coming from the sky.
- Shroy: "So this is how you summon heroic spirits... so powerful..."
However, the attacker was more powerful than Shroy had imagined. The iridescent light appeared again in the air, this time not one, but five layers on top of each other, forming a cage that no one could escape.
- Ourea: Damn...it...
- Ourea: I won’t be defeated so easily!
Ourea arched her back and folded her hands on top of each other, conjuring the magical power in her body. As the power burned and churned, the heroic spirit once again spread his wing-blades to defend the frequent offensive.
Boom! The collision of power aroused a strong wind, as if the entire street could be blown upside down. Shroy and the others were also hit by the force and fell to different spots on the street.
Shroy survived only under Ourea's desperate protection, but it was not the end. Shroy, who had just awakened from the shock, saw an unfamiliar female knight coming. She was about to attack Ourea and Copeland.
Weak as he was, Shroy still did everything he could to save them...
